Which is exactly what I adore this Apple ad so freaking much, because they managed to capture that same exact feeling through a computer screen.
Apple just gets it man.
Pre-computer / ai / (era of your choosing) when editorial offices still mostly used paper is one of my favourite workspace aesthetics ever.
This is The New Yorkers editorial office, and we will never have something like this again, which is highly practical, but I think we also lost a lot of charm with it.

One of the single most powerful scenes I’ve ever seen in a show or movie. For all the quick-witted, millisecond comebacks Omar had up his sleeve throughout The Wire, it’s in this moment where Bunk leaves him speechless. You can’t get sarcastic with the truth. What a show, man.

Why Kenyan homes need more art:
1. It breaks the monotony of bare walls
2. It connects you to local talent like Victor Mwangi
3. It adds emotional value that outlasts trends
4. It creates conversation starters for guests
5. It's an investment that appreciates with time
Pro Tip: Place art at eye level in high-traffic areas for maximum impact.

Ten houses just outside Kampala are proving that low-cost housing doesn’t have to mean low ambition.
Marc Thorpe designed these bungalows almost entirely from Ecoblock, a bio-brick made from 90% local soil, with cement, sand, lime, and water filling the rest. It’s a bioclimatic material, insulating against heat and sound, more resistant than cement block, and it cuts carbon emissions by roughly 30% compared to conventional construction. Fully local, fully recyclable.
Each single-storey home gets flat roofs designed to carry solar panels, generating its own electricity instead of depending fully on the grid. Rainwater harvesting runs off the same roofs into a private water tower, one per house, not shared. That detail matters: Thorpe built it that way specifically so no single household gets left without water if a drought hits or a shared system fails.
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living and dining space, wrapped in shaded terraces that block the harsh sun and hold the wood-burning stoves already common in Ugandan homes. Nothing about the plan asks families to abandon how they actually live, it builds around it.
This project, working with Échale and Stage Six, targets middle- and lower-income families in a country facing a real housing shortage. Ten houses is the pilot. If it scales, it’s a genuine answer to the question everyone in this conversation keeps circling: does affordable housing across Africa have to mean cheap materials and imported thinking, or can it mean smart, local, and dignified.

‼️BREAKING: Anthropic is signing Claude users out and deleting their saved card because infostealer malware on their machines handed a bad actor live Claude login sessions. Anthropic says its systems detected the activity, and the notification names six stealer families across Windows and macOS.
We hear a lot today from restomod builders about striving for perfection, but Alfaholics insists on taking it to the next level.
On the latest episode of Capturing Car Culture, @Driftfotos is in England at the @Alfaholics factory taking a look behind the scenes at some of the most perfect Alfa Romeo projects in the world.
Yes, "perfect" is a very heavily loaded word, but once you see the work that goes into one of these cars, it's hard to think of an alternative.

You click a link in Instagram. a browser opens inside the app.
when you have your own browser on your phone which has your privacy settings, your ad blockers, some times your privacy extensions.
None of that inside these in app browser.
These apps can inject JavaScript into every page you visit it can track every tap, click, scroll even form field you type into.
security researcher Felix Krause analyzed TikTok's in-app browser and found code capable of logging every keystroke. every tap on a button or image. every text input. including passwords. including credit card numbers.
TikTok said it was for debugging. Krause said it's impossible to know for sure. you have to take their word for it.
Instagram and Facebook had similar code. Meta said it honored "do not track" preferences using it. what it also did was attribute every purchase you made on an external website back to a specific ad on their platform.
you saw an ad. you clicked it. you bought something on a completely different website inside their browser. Meta recorded the conversion. charged the advertiser. and kept the behavioral data.
that's why in-app browsers exist.
not convenience. attribution.
when Apple launched App Tracking Transparency in iOS 14.5, requiring apps to ask permission before tracking you across other companies' apps, Meta said it would cost them $10 billion a year.
$10 billion.
in-app browsers bypass ATT entirely. the tracking happens inside the app's own context. Apple's permission prompt doesn't fire.
Outside in your browser, they can't see what you do.
inside theirs, they can see everything.
