2026 Sports in Kansas 5A Pitcher of the Year Jordey Pierce, Arkansas City Not every Pitcher of the Year comes from a state championship team. Sometimes the award belongs to the player who showed up year after year, delivered season after season and built a resume that is impossible to ignore. That was Jordey Pierce. A four-year starter at quarterback and four-year contributor on the baseball diamond, Pierce has been one of the faces of Arkansas City athletics since arriving on campus. Few athletes in Kansas can match the consistency, durability and impact he brought to two sports throughout his high school career. On the mound, Pierce finished with 219 career strikeouts in 189 innings while posting a 2.15 ERA over four seasons. His senior year was his finest, striking out 84 batters in 57.1 innings with a sparkling 0.61 ERA and allowing just five earned runs all season. At the plate, Pierce added a .305 career batting average with 76 hits, 38 RBI and 19 stolen bases. His ability to contribute in every facet of the game made him one of the most complete players in 5A baseball. While others may have received more attention because of team accomplishments, few players in Kansas could match Pierce’s four-year body of work. Whether leading the Bulldogs at quarterback in the fall or taking the ball in the spring, he was a dependable leader and competitor every time he stepped on the field. The Emporia State dual-sport signee ⚾️🏈leaves Arkansas City as one of the school’s most accomplished multi-sport athletes and the 2026 Sports in Kansas 5A Pitcher of the Year. #sportsinkansas
