"Confident spoken communication has been kept for the few."
Bless.
Now, Lucy. Sit down. Let us look at this together.
Speaking. Talking. The thing children have done since the beginning of time. State schools have taught it for a century. Reading aloud. Show and tell. The school play. None of it was ever kept for the few. It was just there, unglamorous, working, while you were somewhere else entirely.
So when you say you are making it the right of every child, do you mean the right every child already had? You have not invented talking, Lucy. You have given it a posh name and a GCSE. Oracy. The art of saying oracy.
Your critics say you are dumbing down. That is generous. You have taken the oldest skill in the world, wrapped it in a Latin word, and asked for a gold star.
Still. Lovely Guardian piece. Off you pop.
For too long, confident spoken communication has been kept for the few. Now, it will be the right of every child.

If I could design the perfect economy and society it would certainly include a massive proportion of multi-generational family businesses.
I would imagine that “family businesses per 1000 residents” would be a predictor of almost all pro-social outcomes.
If I knew nothing about a country other than it was full of multi-generational family businesses I would know that it was low crime, high affluence, great schools and hospitals, full employment and a happy place to live.
Attacking family businesses is like pulling out a Jenga block from the base of society.

This woman criticising others for “sleaze” is like Oliver Reed asking you for the keys to your car, because he thinks you might be over the limit.
As Education Secretary, you should be reversing the spiteful vandalism of your predecessor - that’s all… (Oh - and allow comments on your posts - you are a public servant - do we need to remind you what that means??)
I brought my 7 year old son to see @NUFC for his first football game. After that performance, I wish I could get refund both my ten hour round trip, hotel room and the tickets - absolutely abysmal and toothless:((

Andy was right; use Google Maps to find cheaper fuel. The only problem is it’s in Venezuela.

Oh do shut the f up. Take fuel duty off and shove your Google Maps. Respectfully obvs.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Err or you could reduce the tax on it. We are not stupid Prime Minister. Increased fuel prices affect the cost of living. But you simply don’t care.

My dear Bridget,
Little girl from the council house who went to Oxford and never stopped telling us. You have the briefcase now. The title. The salary. And still you tweet like you are shouting through a letterbox in 1997.
Tin eared.
That is what you called her. Because she wrote that ministers cannot mandate prosperity. You read a sentence about state overreach and heard abolition.
Kemi said stop raising it. You heard scrap it. The gap between those two things is where your honesty died.
You are Minister for Women and Equalities. You are Chair of the Labour Party. You sit in Andy Burnham's cabinet. And still you type "Same old Tories" like the opposition never left.
Same old Tories.
Three words. 139 likes. That is what five years at Hertford College taught you.
You called yourself a spiteful class warrior. You kept the T shirts. You think this makes you authentic. It makes you lazy. You have the office now. And still you play victim from the deck marked 1997.
The minimum wage is £12.71. You did not set it. The Low Pay Commission did. You are not mandating prosperity. You are retweating.
Kemi wants to pause the climb. You want to pretend she wants the fall. The difference is she admits her position. You lie about hers.
Working people are struggling. You noticed. From your government desk. While Sunderland waits for the culture change you promised in July.
That is not tin eared.
That is you.

“But I think as we’ll no doubt hear from Andy later today, it’s in these dark times, it’s in these moments of challenge, that the Labour Party does step up.”
No Lucy, we don't want Labour to step up.
We want Labour to step away - from government altogether.

Good.
Prime Minister, you can start here: scrap VAT on school fees.

One of this government's first action was the imposition of VAT on private school fees, a policy designed to punish families for trying to give their children the best start in life.
Done in the knowledge that most of those affected wouldn't vote Labour.
Divisive from day one.
