Dear San Francisco Public Defender and City Officials,
I am writing to express my profound concern regarding the conduct of Deputy Public Defender Ilona Solomon Yanez and to request that the City of San Francisco conduct a thorough review of whether her conduct is consistent with the ethical obligations and public trust required of an attorney employed by the City.
I am reporting that Ms. Solomon Yanez has publicly expressed support for Hamas by stating, “Godspeed to Hamas,” and has repeatedly directed inflammatory and defamatory language toward me, including referring to me as a “Nazi” and using other derogatory labels. If these statements accurately reflect her conduct, they raise serious questions about her judgment, professionalism, and ability to impartially serve a diverse public.
Hamas is a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. Following the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack in Israel, Hamas was responsible for the murder of approximately 1,200 people and the kidnapping of more than 250 others. The attack was the deadliest assault on Jewish civilians since the Holocaust. Expressions appearing to celebrate or encourage such violence are deeply troubling and understandably create fear within the Jewish community and among many San Franciscans.
San Francisco has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to combating antisemitism, racism, and all forms of hate. Public employees—particularly attorneys entrusted with protecting constitutional rights and representing members of the public—should be held to a high standard of professionalism, impartiality, and respect. Conduct that appears to endorse terrorism or target individuals with inflammatory accusations based on identity or viewpoint risks undermining public confidence in the City’s institutions.
According to the FBI’s annual hate crime statistics, anti-Jewish hate crimes consistently rank among the highest categories of religion-based hate crimes reported in the United States. At a time when antisemitic incidents have risen significantly nationwide, public officials should be especially mindful of the impact their words and actions have on vulnerable communities.
This request is not about suppressing political opinions or limiting protected speech. Rather, it concerns whether a City employee’s public conduct is compatible with the responsibilities of public service and whether that conduct violates departmental policies, professional ethics, or standards governing employee behavior.
Accordingly, I respectfully request that the City:
Conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the reported statements and conduct.
Determine whether Ms. Solomon Yanez violated City employment policies, the Public Defender’s Office’s code of conduct, or applicable professional ethical standards.
Take appropriate disciplinary action if the allegations are substantiated, up to and including termination if warranted.
Reaffirm the City’s commitment to opposing antisemitism, political violence, and support for terrorist organizations in all forms.
Public confidence in our institutions depends on accountability and equal treatment. Every San Franciscan deserves confidence that public servants will perform their duties free from bias, hatred, or conduct that appears to glorify violence or terrorism.
Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I respectfully request a response regarding the actions the City intends to take.
Sincerely,
Adam Mesnick
San Francisco, California

Three Florida Republicans were just charged with creating a fake voter guide to steal an election.
They did not hack the machines. They did not stuff the ballot box. They printed a fake Republican voter guide, made it look nearly identical to the real one, and mailed it to tens of thousands of voters before a 2024 primary.
It worked. An incumbent won by fewer than 1,000 votes. Now three elected officials in St. Johns County, Florida are facing criminal charges for it.

Mitch McConnell is reportedly brain dead. The journalist who broke his cardiac arrest is at the hospital waiting for them to move his body. Her name is Desirée Townsend.
She's the independent reporter who obtained the EMS scanner audio confirming paramedics performed CPR at McConnell's D.C. home on June 14. NBC and CBS spent a week catching up to her.
Yesterday she tweeted that she's physically at the hospital, that multiple sources have told her the 84-year-old senator has been declared brain dead, and that his Capitol Police detail was still there as of 3:39pm ET.
Laura Loomer posted the same claim, citing a White House source. McConnell's office will not confirm or deny. They insist he is "continuing to improve."
The brain-death claim is not yet verified. Here's what is.
McConnell has been hospitalized for three straight weeks with no public explanation.
His office has never said why he was admitted. His last vote was June 11.
His wife Elaine Chao was photographed in Beijing meeting the Chinese vice president three days after her husband collapsed. She has not come home.
His daughter deactivated her X account.
Neighbors of his D.C. townhouse say no one has come or gone since the ambulance took him away. Not family. Not staff.
Kentucky's Democratic Governor Andy Beshear says McConnell's office is not returning his calls.
Now the politics.
Kentucky Republicans quietly rewrote the state's succession law in 2024. If McConnell's seat opens, Beshear cannot appoint a replacement. A special election gets triggered instead.
And the timing matters. If he can't finish his term after August 3, the special election just rolls into November. Before August 3, the GOP has to hold a standalone race.
They’re watching the calendar.
The election they're trying to avoid is the GOP's nightmare. Thomas Massie, the Republican congressman who has become one of Trump's loudest critics, would be a heavy favorite to run and split the red vote wide open.
Every day they hide McConnell's condition is a day they don't have to hold that race.
Whatever is actually happening in that hospital room, this is the picture from outside it: a senator who has not been seen in three weeks, a wife who left the country, a family that has gone dark, a governor being frozen out, and a party racing the clock on a succession law they wrote themselves.
Townsend is still at the hospital.

#BREAKING: Psaki: “Multiple outlets are reporting tonight that Donald Trump has essentially wiped out what is left of the US Election Assistance Commission that is a bipartisan commission that helps states and local officials run elections. They certify election equipment, they distribute federal election funds, they maintain the national mail voter registration form, they basically do a whole bunch of things that help elections across the country run smoothly. But as we have seen through his actions over and over and over again, Donald Trump does not want elections in this country to run smoothly, quite the opposite.”🤦♀️

🚨 Trump just fired every remaining commissioner of the bipartisan Election Assistance Commission, the federal agency that helps states secure and administer elections.
No, this doesn't let a president "run" elections.
It does something more subtle.
The EAC certifies voting systems, oversees billions in election grants, issues national guidance, and serves as an independent referee on election administration.
Remove the referees, install loyalists, and a safeguard can become a bottleneck... or a weapon.
States still run elections, but weakening independent oversight makes it easier to pressure states, delay resources, politicize technical standards, and erode election security before the 2026 midterms.
That's how institutions are captured: not all at once, but one "independent" agency at a time.

BREAKING: French Senator Claude Malhuret TORCHES Trump and his alcoholic, drug-addicted administration on the floor of the Luxembourg Palace: "Every time the Epstein affair resurfaces, bombs explode somewhere in the world and cause a distraction!"
This might be the greatest MAGA takedown of all time. Nobody was spared...
"A year ago, here in France, I compared Trump's presidency to Nero's Court. I was wrong. It's the miracle court. An anti-vaxxer, former heroin addict as Minister of Health," he said, referring to RFK Jr.
Malhuret's comparison to the mad Emperor Nero is fitting. It's said that he fiddled while Rome burned. In Trump's case, he's building a ballroom while the entire world goes up in flames.
"A climate-skeptic Minister of Economy. An alcoholic TV host, Minister of the Armed Forces," Malhuret continued, referring to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
"An old Qatar agent, Minister of Justice. A groupie of Putin, Minister of National Security," Malhuret went on, referring to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. Bondi previously worked for the Ballard Partners firm which raked in $115,000 a month by lobbying on behalf of Qatar.
"A Turkish proverb says 'When a clown settles in a palace, he does not become king, it is the palace that becomes a circus," said Malhuret. "His fine team has decided to create a competitor to the UN. Since the creation of the Board of Peace, Trump has triggered more military strikes than Biden during his entire term."
"Every time the Epstein affair resurfaces, bombs explode somewhere in the world and cause a distraction," he continued. "Bomb more to win more."
This is how the world now sees the American president: as a pedophile desperately exploiting his role as commander-in-chief to obscure the fact that he preyed on children with his long-time pal Jeffrey Epstein.
"There isn't a single country where Trump did not take advantage of the situation to enrich himself without ever forgetting his family. A Boeing plane offered by Qatar," he said, referring to the $400 million jet that Qatar "gifted" to Trump. "Investment in all Gulf projects or elsewhere. Stock market manipulation that only a few insiders benefit from."
"Any one of these conflicts of interest would have caused an immediate procedure of impeachment here," Malhuret. "But we are not here. We are in MAGA's America where public business is conducted in favor of private interests."
Rarely have we heard such an exhaustive yet succinct distillation of the Trump administration's rampant criminality and incompetence. By focusing on individual Cabinet members and what makes them uniquely unfit for office and then expanding the aperture to the broader patterns of corruption and malignancy, Malhuret delivered a master class in political messaging.
Every mainstream outlet in the U.S. should be running this speech to show Americans what the world thinks of our leaders.
Since they won't, please make sure to like and share to spread this far and wide!
