i love this bro, lngshot’s music is so deep and musically rich, there’s so much to unpack, even artistically. shotties, let’s keep analysing the depths of their music instead of just focusing on the critics. there’s so much more to appreciate !!
Why MASTERPIECE by #LNGSHOT is so good.
It’s a perfect blend of chill r&b, trap soul and hip hop. Content and lyric wise it’s a fun play on comparing a woman to a work of art. The art motif is sprinkled throughout the song, the ‘swish’ of a paint brush, painting her and comparing aspects of her by using words like “shades” and “colors” to describe that everything about her, not just her looks, is a masterpiece.
The song starts off with a more light instrumentation, and gradually builds throughout. The hi hat and bass gets more intense at the pre-chorus and then pulls back at the beat drop. During the chorus, the bass really shines contrasting with their smooth vocals. Listening to this song with headphones on or in your car is perfect.
The vocals are so interesting. LNGSHOT purposely sings in a smooth r&b style but stay in the same level throughout. Meaning there are no crazy vocal runs, no belting, no harmonizing. Just adlibs. They really let their natural vocal tones shine and minus the falsetto SWISH parts, they intentionally sit in this softy airy space. It creates such a chill, refreshing vibe to the song, it’s like a drop of water in a lake. Then, when the SWISH part comes in, it creates a nice catchy and dynamic part to the song.
Ryul’s rap adds even more dimension and texture to the track, his flow is so sonically pleasing to hear. He just elevates the song even more. Everything from the beat, the vocals, to the rap builds up a bit more towards the end beautifully.
Overall, MASTERPIECE has groove to it but doesn’t veer off into a crazy bridge or beat switches. It’s very atmospheric and fits the artistic masterpiece vibe. It’s not meant to be flashy or loud, it’s a calm, quiet sense of cool beauty. A masterpiece.
