The tunnel saga isn’t over….
A white pit bull with a pink collar was standing alone by a storm drain on Montview a week or so ago when Good Samaritan pulled over to help when. A man came out of the storm drain holding a large knife, grabbed the dog, and dragged her into the sewer.
911 was called. Police arrived quickly and said there is a homeless encampment in the sewers.
This matches what other neighbors have been reporting (and videoing) at Chester & Montview: a man living in the tunnels on the Aurora / Denver line that run under the @denverpolice Academy.
Neighbors think the dog’s name is Mella and that the sewer man is holding Mella and wants a $200 Apple gift card for her return.
@AuroraPD and DPD have been contacted. So far, neighbors say no one has been able to get the dog back.
A dog is being held captive in a tunnel under the police academy for a $200 gift card⁉️

I’m sorry, but the math just DOESN’T work anymore.
A lot of jobs are still paying somewhere between $15 and $21 an hour. Work 40 hours a week and you’re making roughly $2,600 to $3,640 a month BEFORE taxes.
Now go pay $1,500+ for rent. Throw in a car payment, utilities, gas, groceries and all the other random crap that somehow costs twice what you remember it costing.
And that’s before childcare. Car insurance. Health insurance. Student loans. Credit cards. An emergency. A flat tire. A trip to the doctor. Or God forbid you actually want to save some money and enjoy your life once in a while.
I’ve been a financial planner for almost 20 years, so I’m obviously a HUGE believer in budgeting and living below your means.
But there comes a point where telling someone making $18 an hour to “just budget better” is ridiculous.
You can’t Dave Ramsey your way out of $3,500 of monthly expenses when you’re bringing home $2,600.
Sometimes the problem isn’t the budget.
The income simply doesn’t cover the cost of being alive anymore.

Today, I went to my local King Soopers and when I wanted to buy a beer, they insisted upon scanning my ID instead of just inspecting it like any other company might.
When I questioned them, they lied to me and said it's a new state law that requires it.
So, @kroger, I have two questions.
First, why are you instructing your employees to lie to customers about the state of the law instead of admitting they're merely following private company policy (if, indeed, that is your company policy)?
Second, when you scan our IDs, what of our private information are you attempting to capture and how are you using it?
