You’re only an idealist for so long as you fail to make it happen
The very moment it becomes real
It’s no longer an ideal
But a realised vision

They take risks in business but not in love, then treat love like a business to minimise risk. Poetically then, they fail to apply the daring spirit that made them thrive in commerce to the very domain in which it matters most: love - they are sinful sterilisers, and so bureaucratic where they should be ecstatic. Great fools! The heart never lies!

humans know what makes them feel most alive, and then they don’t do it most of their lives - Patrick O'Shaughnessy
but how does one track their progress with new impressions metric? it doesn’t move like the old analytics dashboard.

and craziest thing about those kind of relationships is that you mostly don’t end up together

Yes billionaires have understood "attention" is the only scarce asset and the new status signal. It's why so many of them are suddenly starting podcasts, Youtube channels or posting on 𝕏.
Once you already have $500m, another $100m changes relatively little. But a real audience gives you things money still can't automatically buy: cultural relevance, political influence, and proof that people voluntarily care about what you think and do.
Also, the status inversion has become insufferable for them. Previously, extreme wealth itself guaranteed social importance. But online, an anonymous billionaire can post something and get 14 likes while a 19yo Youtuber gets 8M views. And it spills into real life (parties, dinners, galas, award ceremonies), the billionaire isn't the most interesting guy in the room anymore. He's the one trying to sit next to the Youtuber/Influencer.
What they don't get is buying 800k fake followers is almost useless, cause the real status is having influential people read you, repeat your ideas, invite you places, argue about your posts, etc. Fake followers are basically a fake Rolex. You think the number itself will impress everyone, but the people who understand the game immediately know.
Impact for all of us is that follower count will become an increasingly weaker signal. The valuable assets become identifiable high-status followers, recurring engagement, trusted opinions and the ability to move people towards an action.
I'm spotting lots of very rich people on here, like $500M net worth to multi-billionaires, buying 𝕏 followers in the last ~6 months
Like they had very very steady follower growths of maybe 5,000/mo to 10,000/mo new followers before that for yeaaaaaaarssss
And then suddenly in the last few months they add like 500,000 followers to 1 million in a month, with barely any signs of engagement on their tweets at all, completely fake
It seems like some startup tech PR manager is behind it and managing them secretly, interesting?
I think it shows that with AGI coming, for rich people, the currency of having a big audience is becoming more important than the currency of money!
