If they were to underground the lines or simply clear brush underneath the power lines, they'd never have to shut down the power.
But they refuse to do that, so this is the only safe option left in Gavin's California.
In California, utility companies — NOT the Governor — decide when to implement Public Safety Power Shutoffs to PREVENT power lines from sparking wildfires during dangerous weather conditions.
That's precisely the risk Southern California is facing right now. These shutoffs are inconvenient, but they are utility SAFETY decisions, not orders from the Governor!

No CAL FIRE Helo’s are battling the Bryson Fire tonight, so idk where they are but the Governors press team is lying again
>>@CAL_FIRE nighthawks are operating through the night to fight this fire — supporting local firefighting efforts on the ground — to help keep Californians safe.

Southern California Edison (SCE) has informed the City that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) is likely to occur soon in portions of Agoura Hills and surrounding areas due to wind-driven weather conditions. SCE is considering a PSPS as a precaution to help reduce wildfire risk.
Areas currently being considered for a LIKELY PSPS include:
- Old Agoura and portions of the Cheeseboro Canyon vicinity
- Eastern Agoura Hills, including areas near Agoura Road and the surrounding hillside neighborhoods
- Colodny Drive and nearby residential areas
- Lake Vista Drive and the Medea Creek vicinity
- Liberty Canyon and surrounding open-space areas
- Triunfo Canyon and portions of the unincorporated Santa Monica Mountains and surrounding areas of Los Angeles County
Confirmed PSPS areas include:
- Portions of eastern Agoura Hills near Agoura Road and the surrounding hillside areas
- Areas near the eastern city limits and adjacent open-space areas
- Portions of the Seminole Hot Springs vicinity and surrounding unincorporated areas
Please refer to the accompanying map for a general reference of the affected areas:
🟠 Orange-shaded areas indicate locations where a PSPS is likely to occur soon.
⚫ Black diagonal-hatched areas indicate locations where a PSPS has been confirmed.
These areas may include locations both within and outside Agoura Hills city limits. Boundaries are approximate and may change as SCE updates its assessments.
🗺️ Check your address: Visit sce.com/psps and use SCE’s address lookup tool to determine whether your property may be affected.
📱 Direct notifications: SCE will notify customers who may be affected, including Critical Care and Medical Baseline customers.
🚨 Power restoration: Once weather conditions improve and restoration is authorized, SCE crews will inspect power lines, make any necessary repairs, and work to restore power safely.
🔋 Be prepared: Residents in potentially affected areas should prepare for a temporary power outage and review their emergency plans.
For the latest information and preparedness resources, visit sce.com/psps.
Thank you for your understanding as we monitor this situation. The City will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available from SCE.

There are 11 stations hitting Red Flag conditions right now, with 25 others on the cusp. Chilao hitting nearly 80mph gusts. Just because your area is wind-sheltered doesn't really mean it's the same story 2 canyons over.

This should’ve been national news.
Last Friday the City of Los Angeles quietly dismissed its cross-complaint against the State of California in the Palisades Fire Litigation. Today, Newsom endorsed Bass. Did Bass just throw the taxpayers under the bus by dismissing the City's legal ability to seek indemnity from the State for billions of dollars in damages in exchange for the Governor's last minute endorsement? @spencerpratt @joelpollak @JeremyCom @Hotshot_Movie @LeonardFiles

L.A. infrastructure is still a complete, incompetent mess. The Palisades reservoir remains unfilled -- why aren't there riots about that?
Another fire just broke out in west L.A. last night. Let's hope they do a better mop-up job on this one than they did on the Lachman Fire on 01/1/2015, which continued smoldering and then burst back into flame to level the Palisades six days later.
🤯 This 👇 is a REAL sign posted by @MayorOfLA @KarenBassLA @LADWP in Pacific Palisades — you know, the town their burned down because they didn’t have water in the fire reservoir.
Now, with the WATER MAIN broken too, there’s no water to drink/bathe OR fight fires, so they’re asking people to “Take 5 minute showers.”
This is one of the most heavily taxed places on earth yet it has the infrastructure of Mogadishu Somalia.
Failed leadership. Failed state. Failed city.

NEW: A Red Flag Warning is putting LA on alert as the Palisades’ Santa Ynez Reservoir remains OFFLINE for repairs.
The community is still relying on a 6-mile hose line for water as dangerous Santa Ana winds raise wildfire concerns.
“It feels unsettled,” Councilwoman @TraciParkforLA tells FOX 11.

Topanga Canyon will be restricted to Residents Only from 6AM until the Red Flag Warning expires.
We're keeping this essential roadway clear in case of emergency -- now is the time to make sure you're getting prepared too.
⚠️ TOPANGA CANYON ACCESS ⚠️
Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27) between Mulholland Highway and PCH (SR-1) will be restricted to residents only from 6 AM 10/15 to 10 PM 10/16 due to elevated fire danger. Check Quickmap for current road conditions. quickmap.dot.ca.gov/

Strong winds are coming Thursday through Saturday for portions of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Thursday Night through Friday is the most concerning. Here are some expected impacts and actions you can take to be ready. #cawx

ALT NOW is the time to act If you are in a high fire risk area: Prepare/review your evacuation plan for you and your loved ones Stay aware of your surroundings in case a fire starts. Fill up gas tanks of cars Plan for power outages: Charge necessary electronic and lighting devices Fill up generators if you have them. Secure any loose outdoor items Park cars away from trees Use extreme caution with anything that can spark a fire.

In Pacific Palisades, where 4,700 homes were destroyed by fire, a broken water main has prompted the city of Los Angeles to limit showers to five minutes.
First, the city went up in flames. Now, the water's gone.
At this rate, the apocalypse isn't coming. It's already here.

High Wind Watches, Wind Advisories, & heat Advisories have all been issued. Avoid any activities that may create a spark, secure those outdoor holiday decorations, and stay hydrated! Make sure to check in on loved ones. #CAwx #SantaAnaWinds #FireWx

Update: There is a rapidly emerging fire weather threat in parts of SoCal Thu-Fri in places that have not seen significant recent precip (esp. western LA metro). A warm Santa Ana event will bring strong, gusty winds even to lower elevs, but vegetation moisture highly variable.

Neither @MayorOfLA or her Deputy Mayor Randall Winston in charge of "Infrastructure" (roads, underground pipes & streetlights), @nithyavraman or City Council or @LADWP have paid attention for 4 years.
Now they install multiple signs with this messaging to give their middle finger to all returning Palisades residents.

We are about to get hit with another Eaton Fire wind event and look at the Palisades right now. They let all the brush grow back and it’s all dead and dried out ready to burn again. Oh and both our reservoirs are still offline and we have a broken water main.
WTF are we doing.
With the incoming Santa Ana wind event Thursday - Saturday, SCE is considering a PSPS for large sections of Santa Clarita Valley, Simi, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Malibu. The LFM levels in Ventura County are well below "critical" and historic levels. Be prepared and closely monitor @watchdutyapp and your local conditions. @Hotshot_Movie @spencerpratt

They both passed the legislature with bipartisan support and no opposition.
So why the vetoes @gavinnewsom ?
