Through our partnership with the Canadian Wildlife Federation, we’re proud to support 15.3 habitat restoration projects totalling 15.8 hectares—creating pollinator-friendly spaces right along the monarchs’ migration route.
Our latest monarch migration check-in gives us a closer look at just how incredible this journey is.
These tiny travellers are covering an average of 62 kilometres per day, with some flying more than 120 km in a single day. That’s a remarkable pace for a butterfly on a 4,000 km journey to Mexico. 💨🦋 🌼 Their journey depends on healthy habitats—and communities across the GTA.
Together, we’re helping make sure there are places for monarchs to rest, refuel and continue their journey—now and for generations to come. 💚

September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, is a time for reflection, learning and deepening our understanding.
Throughout the year, 407 ETR supports initiatives that celebrate Indigenous knowledge and culture. This month, we announced an investment to @cvcfoundation to support the development of the Gilgoonh (Fish) Doodem Indigenous Placemaking Site along the Credit Valley Trail. We’re also proud to be working with Indigenous artist Phillip Cote on the Mississauga Road bridge mural, which will bring Indigenous storytelling and cultural expression to Highway 407 ETR. The mural is nearing completion and will be unveiled this fall.

Now a year into the project, this pollinator garden is a feeding and habitat meadow for monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
Most of the Canadian-born adult monarchs head to central Mexico to overwinter.
Monarchs require both milkweed and other wildflowers to survive, and this meadow will provide feeding and nesting habitat monarchs and many other pollinators and meadow species.
