i genuinely respect that you survived leukemia, and you absolutely have every right to speak about your own experience. but surviving the same illness doesnt magically make your personl experience the universal standard for how every other person should live after it.
"inever used my illness as a reason to live selfishly" okay, but you're you, and he's him. you made your choices based on your own circumstances, while you have no idea what he experienced, what he was told, or what happened behind closed doors. your survival story deserves respect, but it doesnt give yu a crystal ball into someone else's life.
you can believe his decision was selfish if that's your opinion, but presenting your personal experience as proof that he had no justification for his choices is insane lol. empathy isnt saying, "i went through this and i handled it differently, therefore you should have too." sometimes it's simply accepting that two people can survive similar things and still come out with completely different priorities.

maybe somewhere along the way, after everything he went through, evan started looking at life a little differently. when you’ve been forced to face how fragile life can be, you learn to hold onto the smallest things a little tighter.
he plays basketball. he gets excited over little figurines and silly things that make him happy. he can spend an entire day in the studio, recording the same song over and over, trying to become a little better than he was yesterday. he keeps learning, keeps creating, keeps finding reasons to love the days he has.
and maybe that’s what touches me the most about him. he doesn’t seem to need grand things to make life meaningful. sometimes it’s music. sometimes it’s a basketball court. sometimes it’s something tiny and cute that simply makes him smile. sometimes it’s staying up late working on a song because he still has so much he wants to say.
i don't know what went through his mind during those difficult years, but i can't help wondering if somewhere in all of that, he learned not to take the ordinary moments for granted, because look at him now. he’s living. he’s dreaming. he’s making music. he’s laughing over little things. he’s chasing the person he wants to become ♡
and maybe that’s why watching evan pursue his dreams feels so much more precious to me. and "dom" isn't just an album, its his story! evan is filling his days with everything that makes him feel alive, and i hope he gets to have an endless amount of those days.
i hope there are still countless songs waiting for him to write, countless basketball games to play, countless little things waiting to make him smile. i hope life gives him so much more than what he once had to fight through
because after everything, he deserves to simply live a life that feels full. and i'll always be so proud of him for choosing to fill it with music, dreams, and all these little pieces of happiness! ♡
