Greece has uncovered the school where Aristotle taught a teenage Alexander the Great. Archaeologists in Greece have uncovered the ancient Royal Gymnasium at Mieza, the site where the philosopher Aristotle tutored a teenage Alexander the Great between 343 and 340 BCE. Led by archaeologist Angeliki Kottaridi, the excavation team revealed a sprawling, 30-acre ancient school complex with lecture halls, banquet rooms with colorful mosaics, a wrestling school and an athletic stadium. The find also brought up physical remnants of everyday student life, including four bronze writing styluses likely used by Alexander and his elite classmates. This historic find links literary tradition to physical remains and offers a rare look into the classroom that shaped the ancient world. At Mieza, Aristotle did not merely tutor the future conqueror. He instructed a small group of young Macedonian nobles, including Hephaestion and the future Egyptian pharaoh Ptolemy, in ethics, philosophy and sciences. By unearthing the physical classrooms of these historical figures, archaeologists have located the site tied to the start of the global Hellenistic era.

Natalie Wood was of entirely Russian and East Slavic descent. She was an orthodox Christian and remained dedicated to her faith. Both of her parents were ethnically Russian immigrants born in the Russian Empire. Her father was a factory worker, her grandfather actually died in a street fight between Red and White Russian forces just after WWI. Her mother was of Romanoff connections and was a soap maker and wealthy landowner in Siberia! She would be 88 years old today. Official cause of death is currently deemed "drowning and other undetermined factors". Beauty level: Striking! #OWLM

🔥 “There is no greater racist against Europeans than you.” Greek MEP Afroditi Latinopoulou delivered a blistering message to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen inside the European Parliament. Migration. The Green Deal. The EU’s so called “woke agenda”. And the continuing Pfizergate controversy. Latinopoulou put them all on the table in just over a minute. 🎥 WATCH THE FULL MOMENT But what do YOU think? 👇 Was Latinopoulou right to confront von der Leyen this way, or did she go too far? 🇬🇷✝️🇦🇲 Rare footage showing the Great Fire of Smyrna in 1922. Few people have ever heard about this incredible act of courage. In September 1922, while smoke rose from the burning city of Smyrna and #Greek and #Armenian #Christians were brutally killed on the quay, the brave crew of the Japanese cargo ship Tokei Maru chose humanity and saved hundreds of lives. On 9 September 1922, Turkish forces entered Smyrna. Massacre, rape, and deportation of Greek and Armenian civilians followed. Four days later, a fire broke out in the Armenian quarter and destroyed much of Smyrna. The scenes on the waterfront were horrible. There was the most awful scream one could ever imagine. Many did undoubtedly jump into the sea, from sheer panic. Mothers with their babies, the fire going on over their heads, and many of the bundles of clothes also on fire, and the people all screaming. About twenty Allied warships and cargo vessels sat at anchor. Among them was the Japanese freighter Tokei Maru. Anna Harlowe Birge, wife of Professor Birge of the International College at Smyrna, witnessed the helpless refugees crowding each other off the wharves as Smyrna began to burn. Men and women could be seen swimming in the harbor in the hope of rescue; many drowned. She wrote: "In the harbor, at that time, was a Japanese freighter, which had just arrived loaded to the decks with a very valuable cargo of silks, laces, and china representing many thousands of dollars. The Japanese captain, when he realized the situation, did not hesitate. The whole cargo went overboard into the dirty waters of the harbor, and the freighter was loaded with several hundred refugees, who were taken to Piraeus and landed in safety on Greek shores." During the same Smyrna catastrophe, she helped about forty Armenian students. She wrote her name after theirs and presented them as her sons. A Turkish military official, struck by the boldness of the act, allowed her and the boys to board a destroyer in the harbor. The Japanese ship was not left in peace. According to the Greek newspaper Empros, after the captain sent out the ship’s small boats, Kemalist soldiers surrounded them and threatened to sink them unless the refugees were given up. The captain refused. He is reported to have said that if they touched the people under his protection, he would treat it as an insult to the Japanese flag and a threat to Japan. The soldiers then consulted a superior and let the boats go. U.S. Consul George Horton, writing on 18 September 1922, confirmed the rescue itself: a Japanese ship took refugees; cargo was said to have been thrown overboard; and passengers praised the kindness of the Japanese officers and men. Contemporary Greek reports put one sailing about 825 people. Japanese records confirm that Tokei Maru was in the eastern Mediterranean in September 1922. The humanitarian actions of the Japanese ship were also recorded at the time by many Armenian and Greek survivors of the Smyrna catastrophe. Never forget Smyrna. For 3,000 years, Smyrna had been a vibrant Greek Christian jewel of Asia Minor. That September, families were trapped between the burning city and the sea. Behind them, their ancient quarters were turning to ash. Ahead of them was only water.

Saint Chrysostomos of Smyrna 🇬🇷☦️ He was the Metropolitan of Smyrna during the time of the Turkish invasion. In spite of being urged to leave the city he stood there and was murdered by a mob of Turks. His martyrdom was long and extensive: The Turks gouged out his eyes, cut off his nose, and when he continued to bless them, they hacked off his hands and feet, smashing his head against the blood-soaked ground... In the end they slit his throat while he was still alive, killing him. Although the day of his passing was likely today, his feast will be on the upcoming Sunday. He is a reminder of how a priest never leaves behind his parish, even when exposed to danger. It is also a reminder of the barbarous nature of the Turks.

📡 Types of Antennas & Their Applications Antennas are one of the most fundamental components of every wireless communication system. From smartphones and Wi-Fi networks to satellites, radar, GPS, defense systems, and space communication, the right antenna plays a crucial role in transmitting and receiving electromagnetic energy effectively. I created this infographic as a simple visual guide to help ECE students, RF enthusiasts, and aspiring antenna engineers understand the major types of antennas and where they are used. The poster covers: 🔹 Wire Antennas – Dipole, Monopole, Loop, Helical 🔹 Aperture Antennas – Horn, Conical Horn, Lens 🔹 Microstrip/Patch Antennas – Rectangular, Circular, Stacked Patch 🔹 Array Antennas – Yagi-Uda, Log-Periodic, Phased Array, Massive MIMO 🔹 Reflector Antennas – Parabolic, Cassegrain, Offset Dish 🔹 Traveling-Wave Antennas – Helical, Beverage, Rhombic 🔹 Frequency-Independent Antennas – Spiral, Log-Periodic, Vivaldi 🔹 Slot Antennas – Rectangular, Circular, H-Slot 🔹 Horn Antennas – Pyramidal, Conical, Sectoral 🔹 Special-Purpose Antennas – RFID, NFC, Wearable, Bow-Tie 🔹 Modern Antennas – MIMO, Metamaterial, Reconfigurable, Implantable 🔹 Applications by Industry – Mobile, Wi-Fi, GNSS, Satellite, Radar, Automotive, IoT, Aerospace, Medical, and more. 💡 One important lesson: Antenna selection depends on factors such as frequency, bandwidth, gain, radiation pattern, polarization, size, efficiency, and application requirements. As I continue learning and working in RF Design, Antenna Engineering, Wireless Communication, and Satellite Communication, understanding these antenna families provides an important foundation for practical antenna design and simulation. If you want to add any of your opinion to this post.. The First World War did not erupt. Governments built it, financed it, and kept it running long past the point where any rational army would have quit the field. Franz Ferdinand's assassination in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, gave chancelleries and foreign ministries the pretext they needed. The war itself required something more durable than a pretext. It required central banks. Every major belligerent suspended the gold standard within weeks of the opening shots. Britain suspended convertibility in August 1914. Germany, France, and Austria-Hungary followed. This mattered enormously. Under a true gold standard, you cannot fund a four-year industrial slaughter. Governments run out of money and populations refuse further sacrifice. The war ends. Instead, central banks printed currency to buy government bonds, transferring the cost of the war to ordinary wage earners through inflation, a tax nobody voted for and most never identified as a tax. Ludwig von Mises watched this from Vienna and identified the mechanism precisely: inflation allows states to conscript private purchasing power without explicit confiscation. Every loaf of bread that cost more in 1917 than in 1913 represented a transfer from the buyer to the war machine. The death toll reached approximately 20 million people. The fiscal cost exceeded $200 billion in 1914 dollars. Neither number was achievable under honest money. Politicians and generals sustained the catastrophe because central banking made it financially possible to keep going. Remove the printing press and the trenches empty themselves inside three months. Sound money is a hard constraint on state violence. States hate hard constraints.

The Bolshevik seizure of October 1917 was a coup by a disciplined minority, the Bolsheviks numbering perhaps 25,000 party members in a country of 160 million, who exploited the provisional government's catastrophic decision to keep Russia in World War I. Lenin grasped one essential truth: whoever controls the state controls everything. Property rights collapsed within months. The decree on land nationalization in November 1917 handed bureaucrats power over all agricultural production, and by 1921 famine killed roughly five million Russians. The famine was deliberate extraction, not drought. Ludwig von Mises published his socialist calculation argument in 1920, explaining precisely why this would happen. Without prices generated by voluntary exchange, planners have no mechanism to allocate resources rationally. They guess. Millions pay with their lives for them guessing wrong. The Cheka, Lenin's secret police, executed thousands without trial before 1920. Trotsky militarized labor. The banking system became a printing press, and hyperinflation destroyed the savings of every Russian who had accumulated anything. The Bolsheviks built capitalism's photographic negative: every productive incentive inverted. Entrepreneurs faced execution. Profit became criminal. The peasants who fed Russia slaughtered their own livestock rather than surrender them to collectivization. By destroying the price system, the Bolsheviks destroyed the only tool capable of coordinating a complex economy. What replaced it was terror, chronic shortage, and seventy years of organized poverty dressed in ideological theater.
