Left: Yvette Cooper saying something on BBC Laura Kuenssberg Right: One of the 3,600 old people arrested for non violent protest because of a policy Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper rolled out; this one, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor Never forget Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper's legacy which has seen thousands arrested for non violent protest. At the Labour party conference Cooper tried to dismiss her involvement in the policy, even though she announced it and implemented it. In opposition Cooper was a rockstar calling out the chaos, cruelty and injustice of the Conservatives. In office, she has done worse than Suella Braverman and Priti Patel combined. As Baron Hain said, the proscription is “intellectually bankrupt, politically unprincipled and morally wrong.” And that is how you should remember Yvette Cooper, “intellectually bankrupt, politically unprincipled and morally wrong.”

What happened starting in 1980? Mass Privatisation. So instead of your wages being decided by what your Government could afford and what you earned, you are paid as little as possible to maximise profit.

I’d like to know more about this story which disappeared as swiftly from the news schedules as the morning dew: will those who attacked these people face justice? Are diplomats no longer safe in the lands that have been seized? Has our Government a view? theguardian.com/world/2026/o…

Colin MacKay from STV asked a good question at Burnham's press conference. After Burnham's speech all about his vision for reindustrialisation in Scotland, Colin asked, what about now? What about offshore oil and the unused £200 million for Grangemouth? It gets a long waffle.

I'm really impressed by and sympathetic to these efforts but is there any way the UN Security Council will allow any progress? The Security Council's superpower membership will, I suspect, no more support Scotland than it has Palestine, Catalonia or the Uighers. I'd love to be corrected. I really would. decolonise.scot/the-united-n…

Despite Israel’s efforts to deny its direct evidence, the film NAZA is receiving rave reviews because it powerfully reveals the Israeli military’s clinical devaluing of Palestinian civilian life in Gaza, all told by Israeli military officers themselves. trib.al/ToyA0a5

On the day after @peterjukes & I broke the story of Arron Banks’s covert meetings with the Russian ambassador, I was invited onto @BBCr4today to discuss it. Big news! Finally the chance to break through to a BBC audience. Only the interview was cancelled because they needed ‘someone from the other side’ & the Russian ambassador wasn’t available. Facts don’t have a side. It meant the BBC never covered the story. And here we are..

It’s not just the government that covered up Russian interference in Brexit. The press also played its part. This is one of the only times I was ever interviewed on the subject… by US media.
Here it is. This is the clip from yesterday's @CNN interview where I'm asked - for first time ever - about Brexit-Trump-Russia. "These vital questions of national security have been interpreted as about politics. And it's not about politics. It's about power. And about Putin."

What the BBC’s Nick Robinson and the rest of the media are insisting on is a unique carve-out for Israel. They argue that Israel has an exceptional right – one that no other state enjoys – to exist as it is and in perpetuity. The implication, the one they want you to infer without them having to spell it out, is that any attempt to end Israel as a racist, apartheid state, and reform it into a democracy where Israelis and Palestinians have equal rights, is a violation of its supposed “right to exist”. They also want you to assume that anyone who denies Israel’s “right to exist” is calling for the mass murder, the genocide, of Israeli Jews – and possibly all Jews. In their telling, those calling for the extermination of Jews include Zack Polanksi, the Jewish leader of the Greens, and Stephen Kapos, an elderly Holocaust survivor and one of the proposers of the motion. What these journalists are doing has nothing to do with protecting the Jewish population that live in Israel. It’s about setting in stone a highly militarised state that subjugates Palestinians, both in the occupied territories and inside Israel itself, that refuses to define its borders, that has been judged to be committing the crime of apartheid by the world’s highest court, and that is carrying out a genocide in Gaza according to a consensus of legal and human rights authorities and genocide scholars. If apartheid South Africa had no “right” to exist, Israel has no “right” to exist either. Its crimes are far graver than apartheid South Africa’s, as the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a Nobel peace laureate, famously observed after he travelled around the occupied territories – and did so long before Israel started committing genocide in Gaza. Like that other famous apartheid state, Israel must be reconstituted as a democracy so that it no longer poses a danger to the Palestinian people it has spent decades dispossessing, oppressing and now genociding. This is an extract from my latest article No state has a ‘right’ to exist – least of all an apartheid, genocidal state like Israel. A link to the full article is in the reply post ⬇️
