New Nasal Spray Could Delay Alzheimer’s Progression by Years
A new nasal spray therapy targeting neuroinflammation shows promise in delaying the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by over a decade.
The therapy uses extracellular vesicles derived from neural stem cells to reduce brain inflammation and prevent the buildup of harmful proteins and plaques, key features of Alzheimer’s pathology.
When tested in early-stage Alzheimer’s animal models, the treatment altered the activity of microglia, the brain’s immune cells, to reduce inflammation while preserving their ability to clear protein build-up.
Researchers believe this approach may improve cognitive health and delay severe Alzheimer’s symptoms by 10–15 years.
The therapy is non-invasive and holds potential for other neurodegenerative diseases.
Future studies will focus on human applications, with hopes of making this treatment accessible.

Dehydration Impairs Attention in Middle-Aged Adults
Researchers discovered that even mild dehydration can impair sustained attention in middle-aged and older adults.
The study, involving 78 participants aged 47 to 70, revealed that typical everyday dehydration reduced attention spans over a 14-minute task but did not affect other cognitive functions like working memory.
This underscores the importance of regular hydration to maintain cognitive performance as people age.
The findings suggest that staying properly hydrated can help older adults perform better on tasks requiring prolonged focus.
