On Apr. 30, 1966, the second XB-70 prototype, Air Vehicle 2 (AV 2), suffered a short circuit in the landing gear retraction system shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base.
As a result of this malfunction, the nose gear was blown back into the partially retracted gear well door, and the tires were slashed.
The malfunction caused hydraulic pressure to remain on three of the four main wheel brakes which, being locked when the XB-70 landed at 173 knots hours later, led to the burn-up of the Valkyrie's main landing gear tires.

Two recent fires broke out just days apart—both traced back to lithium-ion batteries.
These nearly back-to-back garage fires are a reminder that the devices we rely on every day can carry real risk when not used safely.
Fire sprinklers in both homes were activated, containing the start of the fire to a small area and from extending to the rest of the house. This helps minimize civilian and firefighter injuries, as none were reported.
Lithium-ion batteries power much of daily life. But when damaged, overcharged, or stored improperly, they can ignite quickly and without warning.
Remember to:
➡️Use only manufacturer-approved chargers and batteries
➡️ Avoid charging devices on beds, couches, or other combustible surfaces
➡️ Do not overcharge—unplug once fully charged
➡️Keep batteries away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight
➡️Stop using batteries that are damaged, swollen, or overheating
➡️Store and charge batteries in a well-ventilated area
➡️Follow proper disposal guidelines, and NEVER throw batteries in the trash

@chemical_ben Do you think it would become theoretically possible that one day electrolyzers may ➡️ cheaper, smaller & more efficient than a #Hydrogen powered car may be able to have an onboard H2 production using the water "exhaust" &/or onboard water storage?
Personally, well before that happens the "new #EGR" could also be used for #WaterInjection to reduce transient NOx!
There have been some phenomenal results of 💧💉 📚 that showed HUGE emissions ⬇️ but vol was too cumbersome for commercialization.
That's #FossilFuel #engines!
