Third place: Hermes Agent Teletype emulator by @hughpyle
A 1960s Teletype ASR33 brought back online by Hermes Agent running on a Raspberry Pi behind it, with a plugin emulating the machine's Ambisonic-recorded hum and keystrokes, collapsing the telegraph age into the agent age.

Teletype ASR33 was the original terminal for Unix. The first ASCII machine. Mechanical keyboard and printer, a legacy of the telegraph age.
I printed some Katherine Nash and Frederick Hammersley artworks to show at @the_clark "Analog Day" (events.clarkart.edu/detail/5…).

I'm looking for anyone who has an active, AKA working, ASR33 who could help develop a short video. If you don't know what it is immediately then you are probably way too young (which is a good thing). Please RT for reach.

I think part of the reason I like these @GreatDismal stories is - there's not much sign of of "computing" except as lumbering power, in the shadows; that's never been the exciting thing about the online world, to me. But there's a whole lot of in-your-face *interfaces*.

I spent a ton of time this year writing about "Code Art" from the olden times to the present. I'm going to share some of the bibliography for the olden stuff over the next few days... for fun :)
