Can it be shown that there is a set of "best" values? ("values" in the sense that they motivate behavior)
I think i see a lot of assumptions that it can, but i also think the extent to which it isn't has ramifications that strike fatally to the core of culture, i.e. epistemology
I, as an american, had reprioritized justice in favor of personal empowerment wherever there's a hint of ideological disagreement. Villainize the other, then beat them at an implicit entitlement contest (which used to just be rhetorical but more often taken w/o other perspective)

“Private capital tends to become concentrated in few hands, partly because of competition among the capitalists, and partly because technological development and the increasing division of labor encourage the formation of larger units of production at the expense of smaller ones. The result of these developments is an oligarchy of private capital the enormous power of which cannot be effectively checked even by a democratically organized political society.
This is true since the members of legislative bodies are selected by political parties, largely financed or otherwise influenced by private capitalists who, for all practical purposes, separate the electorate from the legislature. The consequence is that the representatives of the people do not in fact sufficiently protect the interests of the underprivileged sections of the population.
Moreover, under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights.”

Has anyone elaborated a bioenergetic model, i.e. one founded on caloric needs, of any psychological or sociological phenomena yet?
I wonder how many calories it would take a human to, for example, take a course in philosophy or build an airplane or organize a protest.

If they do both, depends how valuable the feedback was
Sone courts are not public (in the sense that your filings can be viewed by anyone but also in the sense that you may not be in court unless you "have business with the Court")
So anyone trying to learn trial litigation must go through a lawsuit or become part of the industry

Does anyone else have a problem with how sloppy an argument it is to call out AI slop as such?
It's some kind of ad hominem, and while credibility matters (and hence ad hominem has its place), i often see this aimed at arguments much more credible than this poor counterargument.

Those were the days when updates took so long to push out that we weren't yet paying to be beta testers!

@ryancohen i wonder if #gamestop $gme could position itself in a way to help "bring [more than just apes] together over the long term" using games for the rational updating of beliefs (maybe as arise in massive datasets/simulations, i.e. not just designers' beliefs)
Play-based experiments with rescued chimpanzees have revealed that as the primates make decisions, they evaluate the quality of evidence and rationally update their beliefs.

Agreed re Elon musk's incredible narrative, but hype does have real value when its nonlinearity facilitates popular opportunity where it was previously difficult for so many to fathom

This juxtaposition really does have me still a bit confused. And I'd like to be less confused. And I'm unwilling to wait centuries. Thank you for your consideration.

I also like to pay love forward, i.e. to empower others in gratitude for those who did me, but I'm not sutr what inspired me...other than the spectre of life-time wasted before leaving earth
Glad ur here

I spent 6 years feeling responsible over the death of my SO.
To love oneself when it's hard, it has to be sustainable. i couldn't feel like i was unique or special for deserving it.
You deserve love because I deserve love.
I will strongly disagree with anyone who says otherwise.

... I can check another’s credibility based on the value of their network to me.
More to your points about those in power and somewhat doomsday-like scenarios; dollars may be our currency, but if a value falls in the forest without a currency to measure it, does it really crash?

If games are supercharged teaching/learning tools serving that mission, you better have more ideas than "AI bad!"
You need gaming R&D. I just don't know if you have the guts

dear @ryancohen,
I'm an investor and normal person, but I've spent many years of my life doing diligence into @gamestop and all that pertains to it.
i hope that you take these data records I'm providing, and all of my efforts, into honest consideration.
I've worked hard and refused to leave, as was asked of me, so consideration of my time and work is all that i ask of you.
There is something.. very, very wrong here. Your company is involved in so much fraudulent market dynamics, I believe I've given you all that's required to prove market manipulation.
i would greatly appreciate this and it's all I ask from you: simply consider the data and hypothesis's presented and enacting an honest change which we all deeply require.
#Gamestop swap baskets are involved in the greatest amounts of manipulation, we as a community, have ever discovered. The records are there for you and your team to peruse. Gamestop basket UPI's involve half of the swap baskets in the entirety of my swap archives from dec '22 to current day..
Besides that, I appreciate the work you are doing, and look forward to see what you and the boys do with the offerings left for investors to receive. Thank you for you consideration and time, if you indeed see this. 🙏

We have lost too many kind souls yesterday and today because of something that was never real in the first place. Money was created as a tool to help us trade, to make life easier, to represent value. Somewhere along the line, we let that tool become the master. People began to measure their worth by digits on a screen, to see success as something that can be quantified, and when those numbers fell, they believed they had fallen too. It is tragic that a symbol meant to serve us now dictates whether some people live or die.
When a person loses money, they feel they have lost control, dignity, or purpose. But those things were never stored in a bank account. They were never written in an investment portfolio. True worth lives in the mind, the heart, and the choices we make when things collapse. The Stoics taught that nothing external can define us unless we allow it to. A loss of money is only a change in circumstance, not a loss of self. The market can rise and fall, but our ability to rebuild remains. The power to think clearly, to love deeply, and to act with integrity cannot be erased by any number.
It is heartbreaking to read about people ending their lives because of financial ruin. We forget that paper and pixels do not hold our identity. Money is useful for living, but it was never meant to replace life itself. The tragedy is not that people lost money, but that they believed money was all they had left. If only they could have seen that the same mind that earned once can earn again, that mistakes like these make a person stronger and more valuable, that character and resilience are resources that never deplete, they might have endured long enough to find peace again.
We must remember that money is only a story. It has power because we agree to give it power. The moment we stop believing it defines us, we begin to live freely again. To live with wisdom is to care about money enough to use it well, but never so much that losing it destroys who we are. The numbers will always change, but the person watching them can remain steady.
So take a step back from the noise. Look at your hands, your breath, the people who love you. That is real. The world can take away everything that can be counted, but it cannot touch what truly counts.
“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor." - Seneca
