A huge thanks to the @EcoWoodlands team that worked hard to plant herbs and flowers in the new nature space outside our school today.
The space is a wonderful place for all our community to enjoy 😊
Da iawn pawb!

I was thrilled with problem solving today from Year 1.
There are so many different ways shown showing their understanding of what makes 12 and 21 different.
I'm so proud!

Year 1 have been learning about the place value of numbers 20-30 this week. They played the mixed up numberline game in groups. Then, they made numbers using sticks that represent the 10s and smaller natural materials to represent the units outside.

2SW Remember!
Today, we collaborated on a painting of 'Flaunders Field' on our classroom windows for everyone to see.
It looks gorgeous!

Careers week has been a huge success.....2SW have loved it!

Continuing with our pumpkin week, we played 'pass the pumpkin' trying to keep to the beat, even when it got faster 🎃

After the mess we saw on our walk, we really wanted to clean up our community and do a litter pick.
A great start to us taking action in our inquiry.
A big diolch to @6LFWCPS for helping us.

Messy play is the best play!
We've loved exploring the inside and outside of pumpkins today. We've thought of descriptive words, measured the circumference, and used tweezers to pick out the seeds to develop our fine motor skills.

Now we understand what 'Respect ' is it was time for us to go into our community to see if it is being treated with respect.
We found lots of litter on the floor and the children were shocked. Watch this space to see how we decide to 'take action' in our inquiry

Lovely work in maths this week from both Reception and Year 1 and great consolidation through problem solving 🙂

To continue our inquiry on respect, we spoke about how it is our right to feel safe in school, and it is our responsibility to speak up if we see unkindness. The story 'I choose to speak up' helped our understanding of this.
Here are our posters highlighting what we've learnt.
We have loved using the resources in our classroom this week to begin our understanding of place value in a number. We have explored teen numbers using ten frames, numicon and deines rods, as well as enjoying a musical maths session.

Rolling the dice, counting out the same amount of conkers onto a ten frame and rolling one away to find out one less.

Our #DCF skill today was to scan a QR code to view its content. We’ve been learning all about respect and kindness, it was lovely to see the children listening to a song about respect with their friends. Someone said ‘It’s like magic Mrs Williams’ 🤩

Practising number formation is so much fun when it's in the glitter ✨️
