What do you get when you take Shakespeare's Sonnets 57 & 105 and add some synth pop and rap? "A Fool is Love" the music video from the movie 2 Gentlemen of Verona!

By the age of 35 you should have written Richard III, Titus Andronicus, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice, Henry IV Part 1 & 2 and Much Ado About Nothing.

Editing #Shakespeare for Film - Film is very visual. Much of Shakespeare’s exposition involves describing experiences that happen offstage. With that in mind, we cut a couple of those expository scenes and inserted visuals. That way we could show a little more of the world.- KS
Why update 2 Gents? "A great way to get the message across was to give the audience the visual cues of modern clothes & settings. That lets folks know right away that they are experiencing something relevant to their own lives & could happen in their everyday experiences." - KS

In case you missed it, here's a rather lovely podcast appearance from Tom Hiddleston, speaking with characteristic eloquence about Shakespeare (including last year's Kenneth Branagh-directed Hamlet). variety.com/2018/film/featur… Via @jenelleriley @Variety

"Most people have been introduced to Shakespeare in an English class by a bored professor that can’t act. So it seems dry, academic, dusty, & intimidating. #Shakespeare needs to be seen & heard. Seeing it performed makes it alive & personal." - Katherine Stewart #femalefilmmaker
