Important new report: Just as in the IPCC, it shows that if we go beyond 1.5, we enter a high-risk zone of crossing tipping points. We need to move fast to avoid moving to a point where the Earth system takes over & pushed us in a direction with unmanageable conditions.
500+ pages, 200+ researchers: The most comprehensive review to date on #TippingPoints in the Earth System is out, with @UniofExeter. The Global Tipping Points report delivers a comprehensive assessment of tipping point risks & societal opportunities.

Germany 🇩🇪 has some of most environmentally friendly trains in the world. They are powered by hydrogen and oxygen. The only waste they produce is water.
We have the solutions. Time to ditch fossil fuels & implement them.

This is an old video (quote: "a pilot program will start in spring 2018").

All #PlanetaryBoundaries mapped out, six of nine crossed: For the first time, a team of scientists is able to provide a full picture of planetary resilience. Pressure in all those boundary processes is increasing, newly published research shows: pik-potsdam.de/en/news/lates…
ALT Six of nine planetary boundaries are currently transgressed. The length of the wedges symbolizes what the current state of the corresponding process is, in relation to the distance from the planetary boundary (end of the green area) and the Holocene baseline (origin of the diagram). The color symbolizes the risks associated with each. For example, a wedge may be very long because the current state is already very far from the planetary boundary and the Holocene. But it may still not be purple, because that is not yet associated with very high risks in this particular case. In other cases already a "small" overshoot (short wedge) results in a big risk: Then the color further inside already changes to purple.

The fossil fuel industry is at the heart of the climate crisis.
The problem is not simply fossil fuel emissions. It’s fossil fuels—period.
Countries must progressively phase them out, moving to leave oil, coal & gas in the ground—and massively boost renewable investments.
