Health of Mother Earth Foundation is organising an awareness rally (tagged: GMOs will not Address Nigeria’s Food Crisis) to amplify the discussion on GMOs and encourage the needed action to protect Nigeria’s food system and address the current food crisis. The campaign will promote Agroecology as a viable alternative not only to achieve food security but, more importantly, to achieve food sovereignty, and advocate for the establishment of an agroecology policy for Nigeria. @joyce_okeoghene @NnimmoB @kebetkachewomen @SocialActionNg @wtpnigeria @ERAFoEN1 @oilwatchafrica1 @CAPPAfrica @GrassrootsIntl @IENearth

I am glad @gary_srp has clarified that anti-Zionism is not antisemitism. I hope he will say so publicly and that @Safety_Canada will remove any information on their website that suggests the contrary.
Thousands of Canadians spoke out, and the Minister of Public Safety has since clarified in a private letter to the National Council of Canadian Muslims (@nccm) that criticism of Zionism and Israeli government policies is not automatically antisemitic. But the original Public Safety Canada report remains unchanged. A private clarification isn't enough. We’re calling on Minister Anandasangaree to revise the report, remove its reference to anti-Zionism, and affirm that opposing Zionism is legitimate political expression. Keep the pressure on. Send an email to the Minister today: cjpme.org/antizionism

What an incredible session today with the brilliant Richard Akinnola. It was truly inspiring to hear from the seasoned journalist, lawyer, and author. The conversation went far beyond the pages of a book, it was a call to action for every student, lecturer, and participant in the room. One takeaway really stuck with all: Reading culture isn't just about passing exams or surviving the classroom; it’s about equipping ourselves with the courage, perspective, and purpose to tackle the real world. Participants left today feeling energised and ready to apply the knowledge with boldness. Let’s keep reading to grow, not just to graduate. #ReadingCulture #Inspiration #LifelongLearning #RichardAkinnola #BookLovers #PurposeDriven @NnimmoB @kebetkachewomen @SocialActionNg @wtpnigeria @ERAFoEN1 @richardakinnola

In a joint statement, CMPAC along with community and civil society organizations, faith leaders, academics, and concerned citizens called on the University of Toronto to take accountability for the rhetoric platformed at its September 15 conference. The statement was signed by 80 organizations and individual signatories. The joint statement raises concerns about Islamophobic and antisemitic rhetoric platformed at the conference, including the collective targeting of Muslims and anti-Zionist Jews. It calls on UofT President Melanie Woodin to publicly apologize, explain why she opened the conference and what institutional standards were applied, disclose UofT’s administrative and facilities support for the event, and meet directly with affected students and communities. canadianmuslimpac.ca/2026/09…

We stand in pain and solidarity with Dr. Munir al-Bursh and his family during this difficult time, following an Israeli strike that killed his eldest son, Basir al-Bursh, on Saturday. - An Israeli drone reportedly struck Basir as he left his family’s tent in the Al-Zahra neighborhood, west of Jabalia refugee camp. Medics and family members said the strike killed Basir and seriously wounded another. Like most of the population, Dr. al-Bursh’s family has been forcibly displaced time and again, living in makeshift shelters, throughout Israel’s genocidal campaign, which destroyed their home. In December 2023, Israeli forces killed Dr. al-Bursh’s 13-year-old daughter, Jinan, and wounded him. - Basir’s killing is a stark reminder that the Israeli military has not ceased its attacks across Gaza, continuing to to kill and take the lives of Palestinian women, men, and children. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, since October 11, 2025, Israeli forces killed 1,390 Palestinians and injured 4,801 others. - Alongside dedicated doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers, Dr. Munir al-Bursh, Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, has been at the forefront of efforts to sustain Gaza’s healthcare system under conditions of immense destruction and deprivation. We have been in contact with Dr. al-Bursh for years, including until October 2023 coordinating visits by PHRI healthcare worker delegations to meet their colleagues in Gaza. Through his regular reports, Dr. al-Bursh provides vital, up-to-date information on the state of Gaza’s healthcare system: the ongoing shortages of medicines and medical supplies, and the thousands of patients waiting for urgent care that remains unavailable in Gaza. Israel’s restrictions on essential supplies and lack of access to the resources needed for reconstruction continue to prevent the genuine rehabilitation of Gaza’s healthcare system. - We stand with Dr. al-Bursh during this difficult time, and we continue to stand with Palestinian healthcare workers in Gaza and support their efforts to restore and rebuild an integrated, fully functioning Palestinian healthcare system. - Use of the photo is made in accordance with Section 27A of the Copyright Law.

This appears to be an attempt to weaponize the “Combatting Hate” Act against legitimate protest. It is what opponents of the bill warned against. Very troubling that it is coming from a @CBC journalist, who should know better. What does the @CBCOmbud have to say?
CJPME filed a formal complaint concerning public posts made on X by @CBC National Radio News Reader @NEWSneil Neil Herland. Herland posted a thread where he falsely claimed that he was blocked from a synagogue service by Palestine solidarity protesters. However, Herland was on his way to the Meridian Arts Centre, not a synogogue, to see Mark Regev. Regev is a former Israeli ambassador who has served in multiple high-ranking positions in the Israeli government, including as the Prime Minister's Senior Advisor for Foreign Affairs and International Communications and the International Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office. This narrative was fundamentally misleading to an extent that it appears to be deliberate, resulting in disinformation that defames pro-Palestinian activists. These are clear breaches of the Journalistic Standards and Practices. CJPME demands that the CBC Ombud initiate a formal review into Mr. Herland’s conduct, that he be directed to delete the thread, issue a formal retraction regarding his false characterization of the event, and abide strictly by the CBC’s social media guidelines in all future public communications.

We are deeply alarmed by the disturbing reports of #HussamAbuSafiya being subjected to continued beatings, deliberate sleep deprivation, and threats against divulging his detention conditions while in Israeli custody.   Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Abu Safiya and all Palestinians arbitrary detained. Pending Dr. Hussam’s release, the Israeli Prison Service must ensure he is fully protected from abuse, granted urgent adequate and independent medical care and allowed immediate visitation by independent monitors.   Act now: amn.st/6012BGJOMn #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya
