Annoyed by a CapCut's ever-shifting paid features & watermarks? That's a motivator. Rather than pay, I just built the bits I needed into my own system. Frustration can be the kick in the backside you need to create something yourself.

It took me ages to get my head around this, but you don't need to be the biggest. Just being a part of the pie is enough. Trying to own the whole thing just makes you miserable, and frankly, a bit rubbish at everything. Focus on your slice.

I used to think content was a sprint, a quick hit or miss. Then I noticed older videos, forgotten about, still quietly ticking along, bringing in a trickle of sales. Turns out, some assets just compound, a bit like that pension I should probably be paying more into.

I've wasted years chasing grand, revolutionary ideas, only to realise the best stuff often starts with something mundane: a niggling irritation. Turns out, my biggest breakthroughs came from just thinking, Surely this shouldn't be such a faff. Who knew?

I used to obsess over SEO, keywords, and meta descriptions. Now it's all about hooks, storytelling, and stopping the scroll. The tech's changed, but I'm still just trying to figure out why anyone would bother paying attention to what I'm doing. Quite humbling, really.

Funny how creating videos went from trial and error to a repeatable process. What starts as hoping for the best gradually becomes a formula, building things with purpose. Still feels like magic sometimes, though.

It’s funny how much effort we put into optimising for search engines, thinking that's the real magic. Often, the bigger win is simply spotting the clunky bits everyone else has just accepted and making them, well, less clunky. The actual product can almost be secondary.

I'd always assumed my online efforts were a constant treadmill, chasing the next big thing. Turns out, some of the stuff I made months ago is still quietly plugging away, earning its keep. Bit of a shock, frankly. Like finding forgotten fivers in an old coat.

Twenty-five years in, and I've realised I'm still trying to answer the same three questions. How can I make this simpler? How can I get the tech to do the boring bits? And is this genuinely useful? The tools change, but the core problems never do.

Chasing volume, I thought more sales meant more success. Turns out, focusing on what a product *does* for someone, not just what it *is*, makes pricier items less scary. Now, a few sales make a bigger splash than a deluge of cheap ones ever did. Proper head-scratcher.

Reading an old interview from 2007, I was reminded I said Google was the place to be for sales. Replace Google with TikTok today and the principle is identical. The tools change, but putting the right thing in front of the right person at the right time is forever.

After a few years of health woes, I'm finally dusting off old project ideas. Funny how a brush with the grim reaper makes you prioritise building your own stuff over client work. It's not always pretty, but it feels good to be creating again.

Spending a day building a central payment layer for all my projects felt like proper dev work. Turns out it's just a secure middleman between my sites and Stripe. So much for grand visions, eh? Still, I won't have to re-do Stripe every time I get a new idea.

I'm finding it so hard to come to terms with Whatsapp now it is capitalising "Online" and "Typing..."

.@heartinternet's issuing of SSLs is absolute garbage. How can some hosts make it so painless and a 1 click install but Heart charge money for the opposite.

.@cloudabove coming through again with the high end support. Best web host I’ve ever had.
