MY TOP 10 FAVORITE ALBUMS OF 2024: 10 Real Estate : Daniel This band has developed a sound that is perfect for carefree days and long drives in the summertime. They could easy coast on that for the rest of their run and Id be happy. But for this new album, they went to Nashville, hooked up a country music producer and they began to embrace a more twangy vibe with steel pedals and acoustic guitars moving to the forefront. This new approach, combined with some of the best songwriting from the always reliable Martin Courtney results in the best album Real Estate has put out in a decade.

And that’s it for the Flaming Lips. Even though they haven’t made much I’ve wanted to listen to in over 15 years, Steven was the musical driving force. Without him, it’s just an some stuffed animals, a confetti machine and an egomaniac who doesn’t take care of his voice.
