It doesn’t get better for a Portsmouth MP. Honoured to have been asked to address the @1805Club on Trafalgar night at HMS Nelson, Portsmouth. “Trafalgar is not past. It’s prologue. The spirit lives. I see it in this room, in this company, in my constituents and my countrymen”

On the #SouthWestCoastPath there’s a memorial to the officers and men of HMS Anson who drowned in the sinking. Local man, Henry Trengrouse, witnessed the wreck and devoted himself to invent the "Rocket" lifesaving apparatus which saved thousands of lives.

Last summer, while walking the #SouthWestCoastPath, we stayed in #Plymouth and walked around Plymouth Sound where HMS Bellerophon, and Napoleon, were anchored. ⚓️

It's all kicking off somewhere off the coast of south-western Spain! Are you following along?
Barely anything can be seen or heard amidst the billowing smoke and cacophony of cannon-fire. I have never seen an engagement like it. Such courage and spirit by our fellows and brothers. For the glory of God and King George!

#OTD 1758, birth of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronte, KB. Might we suggest that on this day, England expects a toast from all who celebrate him? Cheers, Sir, and happy 264th birthday 🍻.

Reminder - follow @LtLapenotiere for your ringside seat at Trafalgar. No charge!
Bearing south and tacking against a playful south-westerly. We are now twenty-four hours out of Plymouth. Sub Lt Kingdon deigned to join us at the last moment. He seems competent. We are making good progress towards our rendezvous with Lord Nelson and the fleet.
