"In the long history of injustice, no one has been treated more unfairly than General Stanisław Sosabowski, commander of the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade", said Norman Davies, British historian.
The father of the Polish airborne forces died on 25 September 1967 in London.
It is well worth visiting his monument in Jordan Park in Kraków. The park is home to a unique gallery - indeed a pantheon - of more than 50 busts of Polish heroes.
A magnificent history lesson!
Is nothing in this country safe from this sinister erosion and enshittification?
This does not surprise me. The @I_W_M has gone horribly woke and lost its way. I’ve filed a freedom of information request for info on why over 200 Victoria Crosses were kicked out. They’ve hired expensive lawyers to find any dubious reason to prevent disclosure. I will not give up…

Let us recall the Polish contribution to the Allied war effort in WWII, not only on Battle of Britain Day!
Watch a scene from "The Battle of Britain" movie from 1969, directed by Guy Hamilton.
Two Polish bomber squadrons (300 and 301) and two fighter squadrons (302 and the famous 303) fought alongside the RAF. In addition, 81 Polish pilots served in British units.
Repeat, please...

Today is Merchant Navy day. In WW2 alone 40000 seafarers died bringing vital supplies to our shores to aid the war effort and keep us from starvation

September 3rd is Merchant Navy Day, to honour and commemorate all who served to sustain and support our efforts around the world. The Merchant Navy played such a huge part in the Falklands war that victory would have been impossible without them. Today, we honour their service.

#OTD in 1940, No. 303 Squadron were made operational. They were the first Polish squadron to be made operational within No. 11 Group, and they became one of the highest scoring squadrons in the Battle, claiming four victories on this day alone.

#OTD on 16 August 1940, Churchill visited the Bunker at RAF Uxbridge. Witnessing the hard work of staff in the bunker, he first spoke the famous line: ‘Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.’
