Absolutely over the moon to see my MP supporting the need for driving crime to be treated as real crime and championing the work of @RoadPeace. @redditchrachel I feel extremely proud and lucky to have you as my MP. Thank you so much for standing up for road crash victims. 💖
I spoke in the Chamber about toughening up sentences for driving crime. I agree with @RoadPeace that driving crime isn’t treated as real crime. I’ve been inspired by @1687lucy and I’ve been assured by the ministers that this will be in the Sentencing Bill. @RedditchTories

Terrible.
This is the former Birmingham Labour Transport Cabinet member, responsible for declaring a “road safety emergency” and reducing 40mph urban main roads to 30mph, now immediately calling for his *own* policy to be reviewed.

So disappointing to see the lack of political will now in Birmingham for safer streets. After questions from Babiker Yahia, whose 4-year-old daughter Mayar was killed by a driver in April 2024, only one candidate (after a pause) backed 20mph limits on all residential streets.

18 yrs ago, I was violently assaulted & raped while walking alone. Every year on the anniversary of that day, I go on a solo hike to remind myself that there is still beauty in this world & I can enjoy it. This yr, I pushed myself & did a few days of the Southwest Coast Path…

Very proud to share @RoadtoChangeCIC with everyone. Emotional but excited to have founded a new organisation alongside Emma Dugdale, Steve Maloret, Jo Mervyn and Rob Myer. We will provide peer support to those bereaved or seriously injured through a road crash.
Introducing Road to Change 🦋 We’re a new organisation supporting people bereaved or seriously injured through road crashes — creating peer support and advocating for justice, dignity and respect for victims. We’re putting the right foundations in place and will share more soon

It may be born from tragedy but it is always a pleasure to work with you @dharford79, thank you for helping to amplify our voices.
One of the #RoadSafety projects at work is the letter tree. It was a joint project with bereaved families & us, Transport For West Midlands. This tree, carried letters of grief, anger & stories of avoidable road deaths. Here’s just one from @1687lucy Don’t make bad choices!

Thank you, Sarah.
I have been made aware that the important charity @RoadPeace has gone into liquidation, effective immediately. This is a huge loss as they’ve supported many of my constituents through grief and trauma. I will be seeking answers about why this 34 y/o charity has gone under.

An @ITVNews investigation has found people with healthy BMIs are accessing weight-loss jabs from online pharmacies by using AI to edit their pictures to make themselves look bigger. Our reporter, Cree-Summer Haughton, submitted an altered image of herself to six different pharmacies and was sent weight-loss jabs by three of them without further checks.

11 years of missing you big brother. 💜 So much to be thankful for but so much that was stolen. Love you always.

And yes, I asked permission from Lucy and she approved the blog before I published it! I wrote it following an huge urge of emotion, support & the want to show just what this amazing group’s of people can achieve to make the roads safer, through their unimaginable grief.

This is such a special read...💜 @dharford79 is so respected and knowledgeable in road safety, we were simply pleased he said he'd attend our service. For the service to have had this impact on him is incredible... Thank you, Dave.

Thank you for your amazing support and so excited to work together. 🙏
A very emotional, powerful and sobering reminder of the effects of losing a loved one though RTCs - thanks to @1687lucy from @RoadPeace for the invite! #RoadSafety is everyone’s responsibility.

So very sad to hear of the passing of Baroness Newlove. When Elaine and I campaigned on second post-mortems she was an incredible advocate - getting us a meeting with the Chief Coroner and supporting us to achieve change. She was a true inspiration and so warm and encouraging.

Well said @Jacqui_Smith1 That is two former Redditch MPs, from two different parties, in complete agreement on this issue.
You’re wrong and so is this decision. This isn’t the Birmingham I know or the team I support.

So my new role is going well and networking is key. Ive got a few plans in place, but I’m after a few things in particular. Im after some engagement from haulage firms - directors or owners in the West Midlands If you know of any, please get in touch. #RoadSafety

Incredibly well said @SarahCoombesWB. Thank you for your support of road crash victims and championing of the need for road danger reduction. 👏
How is it fair that if you drive like a maniac and kill someone you don't automatically lose your licence? I'm calling for a lifetime ban for repeat dangerous driving offenders.
