Folks, let's compare how Secretary Noem handled protesters versus how it has looked under Mullin.
A handful of people sat in a tree and camped next to it in Lochiel, and one stretch of border wall sat unfinished for 71 days. What should have taken about 15 minutes lasted more than two months. The tree only came down once someone finally told the people on scene they could clear it.
Noem's approach was simple: back the agents and let them do the job. Open-ended standoffs were shorter because the people on the ground knew they had the authority to finish what they started.
CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott and Mullin looks like they prefer the softer optics. Warnings, waiting, and half steps so the pictures stay calm. The smaller group notices the difference and keeps the timeline as long as no one with authority decides the delay itself is the problem.
When the order finally came in Lochiel, the same small camp was gone in hours. The physical problem never changed. The only thing that changed was whether the people on the ground were allowed to end it. @TaylerUSA
SHOWDOWN AT THE BORDER: A scene akin to "CHAZ / CHOP" unfolded on the southern border in Lochiel, AZ.
Dozens of activists faced Border Patrol at a protest encampment after contractors felled a cottonwood roughly 250 years old—one of the trees locals call the “Grandmother”—to continue border-wall construction.
Since July 27th, they've occupied a cottonwood tree to shut down construction of the double border wall.
While reporting on the operation, Frontlines manager @BrandonDrey was assaulted by multiple left-wing activists, who broke his Meta glasses.
When our team returned to the car for first aid, two of our tires had been slashed. Activists have openly mocked and boasted about the slashing while threatening Frontlines staff.
Multiple arrests have been made, and the situation is still developing.
Stay tuned for on-the-ground updates.
