Every now and then, take a break from X and the Agents. And do something physical & creative. Been dreaming of this project for a few months. Took a week and made it reality.
Had my Hermes agent whip up some blue prints for the final piece of my office renovation. Have been wanting a built in library with a spot for my 3D printer across from my desk for awhile. Building out the shelves today. Doing all the detail trim will be interesting.

OpenAI starts refusing normal work for a real firearms industry data business. Wouldn’t look at an ammo dealer’s site. Couldn’t pull range policies. Wanted to lecture the owner. So the founder built 3 servers with 12 AMD R9700s for $32.2k. Same workload that six Mac Studios did at 12 jobs/min now runs at 175 jobs/min. 15× throughput. No API changes. No model drift. Models they chose on hardware they own. Love this qoute: "If the model can change at any time, we can’t build business processes on it." This isn’t a basement experiment. It’s infrastructure. Sometimes local isn’t a side project. Local AI stops being a hobby the moment the cloud starts breaking your actual business.
A few weeks ago, OpenAI's models started refusing normal work for my business. So I built 3 servers with 12 AMD R9700 GPUs and moved the workload in house. $32.2k total. Here's the whole story in 2 minutes. #LocalAI

Peeping the shelves, organizing books today. Almost at the finish. So happy with this project. Got a new chesterfield for the office on order to boot.

Hello I’m now down 90 lbs thank you again for your attention to this matter (this format is getting old but I’m sticking to it)

When you are inside the tech bubble this is the conclusion you draw. Outside of it, you realize companies are really slow to adopt and humans make gigantic messes. And timelines for adoption across fields can sometimes drag out longer than the best estimates. I mean why is the financial sector still using COBOL? I'm working with Fortune 5000 clients whose IT department is afraid of letting the web development team run NPM INSTALL on their machines. They'll still be Software Engineering jobs in 2028. But this is a field that is rapidly changing, you don't want to be the last dinosaur to die off. Or fighting over the last few hold out jobs. You want to be the new species taking off.
software isn’t dead, but it’s certainly solved. you will not be able to find employment as a software engineer in 2028.

They are about to start trying to treat A.I. like guns. A.I. is NOT killing no one, people are killing people and they are using A.I. to do it. The same way guns don't kill people, people kill people pulling the trigger. Stop this non sense.
❗️ AI is already killing people. A Russian drone that killed 3 in Zaporizhzhia in July left the strike decision to an Nvidia Jetson Orin chip, Ukrainian investigators say. Nvidia says it is a consumer product sold to students.

Friendly reminder you can just cancel this service run by dwebs and use an open source model from an API.
Exclusive: Anthropic is updating its usage policy for the first time in over a year. The new rules prohibit sustained "abusive or cruel behavior" towards Claude & add new restrictions about propaganda campaigns, surveillance & weapon development. theverge.com/ai-artificial-i…

There is a lot to be said about making the thing you want and sharing it with others. You don't need to have the most popular app in the world out there. Just make a thing. Share it. Never know who else will enjoy it.

Don't worry, all your data, and every file Claude reads will be uploaded. No worries.
🚨Anthropic removes Cowork's local option for Pro/Max tomorrow. New tasks run in the cloud. Existing local tasks stay on your computer. Anthropic says your sessions and files "live with your Claude account and go where you go." Where is my data, and who can access it?

Another reason why local AI is absolutely necessary.
