Allowing people to have access to you allows them the opportunity to disrespect you or disrupt your peace. Have great discernment in who you are accessible to. I have regretted being around many men who have not been places I have been and have shown great disrespect. The crab in barrel mentality. Hoping you secretly fail. People can’t stand success if they’re not apart of it.

So let me get this straight, if a kids goes to a school with a big name they are just looking for better opportunities. But if a kid wants to go to a school with great coaches, someone is recruiting.

Great atmosphere, opportunity to coach up your kids, and most importantly have some fun under the lights.

Never understood H.S. coaches who ignore freshman or JV programs.
That’s the future of your varsity team.
Then they complain about no depth, culture, or players ready for varsity.
If you only coach varsity, you’re not building a program—you’re just coaching a team.

Your “real ones” won’t just be there for you when things are going well for you. They’ll be there when down too and feed you advice to get you back up 🎯

Luke Falk shared a Mike Leach story that stopped me cold:
Two kids. One rich. One poor.
Every training camp, Coach Leach told his team about these 2 kids.
The rich kid has two choices.
Get soft. Get entitled. Expect everything handed to him because he was handed more.
Or take the resources, the coaching, the opportunities, and compound them into something greater.
The poor kid has two choices too.
Say nobody gave him anything. Blame the world. Make his circumstances the reason he never became what he could have been.
Or outwork everyone in the room.
Luke said the locker room had both. Kids from wealth. Kids from nothing. Kids with every advantage. Kids who scraped for every inch.
Same choice for all of them.
Ownership or victimhood.
Fuel or excuse.
The rich kid can waste the head start or build on it.
The poor kid can drown in the deficit or weaponize it.
Greatness doesn't come from where you start.
It comes from which kid you choose to feed.

D1 players don’t just need D1 talent.
They need D1 parents and D1 support systems.
The jump isn’t just faster football. It’s accountability, structure, communication, and emotional maturity. The players who survive and thrive usually have families who understand the grind, respect the process, and don’t panic when adversity hits.
Talent opens the door. The support system builds the the foundation and can determine how long you stay!
