weird how that in every single chatGPT generated description of SH3 they forget that harry admits that he thought about killing cheryl by strangling her as an infant or abandoning her. almost like they didn’t play the game & don’t understand that complex characters & horror 🤔
Silent Hill 1's entire narrative engine relies on the archetype of the protective patriarch. Harry is not a subverted or emasculated modern trope; instead he relies on sheer fortitude to execute his moral obligation as a father, while Dahlia represents the absolute perversion of the maternal instinct. She sacrifices her own daughter at the altar of ideological and spiritual radicalism. The game explicitly positions this disruption of the natural nuclear family unit as the ultimate, satanic evil.
Silent Hill 2 casts James as the tragic figure who -unlike the first game's heroic patriarch- has failed his traditional masculine duty. It views his psychological torment as the inevitable spiritual rot that occurs when an individual rejects absolute truth and personal accountability. His relationship with Maria is a manifestation of his base desires—a hyper-sexualized, compliant version of his wife. She represents the trap of modern hedonism and moral relativism; an illusion designed to comfort him and keep him distracted from facing his sins, ultimately leading to his repeated torment before he finally faces objective truth and finds resolution.
Silent Hill 3 completes this traditionalist framework by defending the family legacy over a culture of death. Heather fights out of duty to her father, protecting his memory against a radical cult that replaces family with group ideology, and the narrative directly rebuts pro-abortion arguments of absolute bodily autonomy. Claudia attempts to exploit Heather’s body to birth a false deity, treating the unborn purely as a tool for ideological utopianism. However the game frames this monstrous pregnancy not as a justification for reproductive freedom, but as a catastrophe caused by destroying the sacred nuclear family. By destroying the entity, Heather rejects secular independence to defeat a cult of death that commodifies life, proving the parent-child bond is the ultimate defense against absolute moral degeneration.
Across these three masterpieces, the true horrors are never traditional structures, but rather the ideologies that seek to dismantle them.

Thank GOD for the student journalists at Cornell who wouldn’t let up
Cornell University police spoke to witnesses and received anonymous tips about an alleged gang rape at a fraternity house in the first weeks of its investigation two years ago, but the local prosecutor did not review the additional information before deciding not to bring charges. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/da-…

if you do the endings in the proper order, the two where he's smug are fox's wedding and ebisugaoka in silence. that's the exact same expression. the ones where he's unhappy are coming home to roost and the fox wets its tail. those are ones where he distinctly loses. ryukishi himself calls ebisugaoka in silence "the final shadow ending" which does not bode well! imo chtr / fwit → shimizu hinako's bad / good ends. fw / eis → fox hinako's bad / good ends. she's referred to as her shadow repeatedly, after all, and eis strongly favors her.

silent hill is literally one of the most feminist gaming franchises ever and i could make a whole essay about each individual game and the feminine topics they explore. it just boggles my mind how many people have been denying its wokeness lately.

f just doesn't have a happy "final" ending - like ryukishi had literally said so himself. the "true" ending everyone loves is not really a happy one. it's a cozy delusion, some "if the character thinks they're happy, then it's a happy ending for them" type shit. but we are supposed to be on the other side of the fourth wall so we can see past that.

Mouthwashing was great until I realized a majority of either don’t have media literacy, are sexist/weird about SA, and/or don’t want to actually engage with the game and its themes
