$GME: the CHX trade that wasn't. Every new FLEX synthetic in September came with a stock block (9/1 2.5M, 9/24 1.5M, 9/28 1.2M). Oct 2: a new 15,000-pair Nov 13 $25 synthetic appeared with no stock print. Same day, 15,000 Oct 2 $20 pairs closed, and those were $4.70 in the money. That's a roll on expiry day. 10,000 pairs weren't rolled, so 1.0M shares are due today at $20. It's the first time a synthetic short forward was rolled on expiry day while the call leg was in the money. There have been other rolls but those have been the call leg expiring worthless and the put leg expiring in the money. ....exciting times

I just come up with 741 $GME

$GME FTDs came out and everyone notice the large fails from the 9/1 trades, over 2.5M shares failed. The sequence I have would go something like this 8/31: GameStop amends the debt-for-equity exchange. Closing moves up to ~9/3, and noteholders get ~55.5M new shares. 9/1: FLEX Oct 2 $20 synthetic opens: 25,000 call/put pairs = 2.5M shares. The stock leg prints 1.5M on NYSE Chicago + 1.0M off-exchange. 9/2: T+1 settlement. The stock seller doesn't deliver: 2,570,429 fails (~$48M at the $18.81 close). 9/3: Exchange closes, shares are delivered. Fails drop to 266.
