The number of men in SF who have reached out in support of my gun posts guns is crazy. Many are too scared to say anything for fear of losing their job or girlfriend.
This is why they call it reinforcement learning

Roughly 200 million smart TVs are sold worldwide every year. Most owners use exactly one feature: press the Netflix button on the remote. A privacy researcher who's spent years intercepting the network traffic coming out of Samsung and LG TVs told me: "A smart TV isn't really a TV. It's a $400 screen that takes a snapshot of whatever is on it every half second, whether that's cable, your PlayStation, or the work laptop you plugged in over HDMI, fingerprints it, and quietly uploads the result to the manufacturer to be sold to advertisers. That's a genuinely different piece of engineering than what most owners think they bought. Because of that, almost every smart TV setting that actually matters is buried a few menus deep, switched on by default, or named something deliberately dull like 'Viewing Information Services' because Samsung built it quietly to keep the data flowing to its ad business not to give you a better picture. Most people set it up once, connect it to Wi-Fi, and never open the settings again. They know about maybe 20% of what a $400 screen is actually doing." Here are 7 things almost no smart TV owner knows how to turn off 🧵

Powerful AI will change our institutions. Yet most of our attention is on aligning or regulating AI, while treating our institutions as fixed. Introducing Pax Machina: a new publication about the institutions we need for powerful AI. It is edited by @MaxKronerDale, @sebkrier, @NoemiDreksler, @LiamPatell, @chelcott9, @synchroaphasia, @ryan_t_lowe, @edelwax, and @klingefjord. The editorial board consists of Peter Railton, @sethlazar, @saffronhuang, @AmmannNora, @xuanalogue, @IasonGabriel, @hamandcheese, and @deanwball. Our goal is to seed rigorous debate about what a world of humans and powerful AI could and should look like. We will publish proposals for new institutions, counterproposals, well-justified design principles, and analyses that change how a class of institutions should be designed.

Goodbye clicking on Google Street View to check out the route! In your browser, with Hop.Earth you can actually drive anywhere in the world🚀 You can also create multiplayer races🚗🏎🚓 The world is generated ahead of you in real-time from OpenStreetMap data combined with satellite elevation data as you drive. Just added a WIP of night mode and replaced the placeholder terrain/road textures with some nicer physics-based textures. Also now anywhere you go a million street lights will be added too. This is actually slowly starting to look like the promised Need For Speed + Google Maps #threejs #gamedev #indiedev Single player mode: Just find a location, click anywhere on the map and click "Hop Here". After parachuting down hold X to call the car to the road. Multiplayer mode: Click on "Create race" and select start and finish points. A route will be plotted. Click on Share Race to get the link and start racing!
