September, the start of football, the beginning of the changing of seasons and the reminder that time has passed. It is also more importantly, suicide prevention month. As someone that has and is still battling with mental health I thought it important to say my piece. The six inches between your ears, what an interesting space in life, time and our existence (and honestly a MASSIVE amount of space, some might say even too big of a space. Right guys?! Sorry 💀). The mind can be our greatest asset and yet sometimes feel like our greatest enemy. It can feel like something that is working against our every move in every part of every day and it can feel exhausting. It can make the happiest days bad and feel like the catalyst to making everyday feel like a bad day. But how do you escape the mind? The tough answer: you can’t and you shouldn’t want to. What you can do and something I’ve been practicing is working WITH the mind. Call out its bad behaviors, fill it with positivity about one’s self and one’s dreams and aspirations. Battle and fight with it and DO NOT ever give it the upper hand, it’s your mind so speak to it. I promise you can get through it and if it feels like you can’t…..Atleast TRY. Suicide is a permanent solution to a problem that can feel permanent. A permanent solution to something that I know you can feel alone in. A permanent solution …… that actually is in fact NOT a solution at all, but instead a permanent loss to a winnable fight. Getting better in all aspects of life will come with pain, problems and impossible nights. But I raise you this, what if you just tried? What if on the other side of the longest night is best day you ever had? What if on the other side of the pain is a new person that’s stronger than they have ever been before? What if through those problems you learned? Wouldn’t you try? I have a tattoo on my body that reads this: “Romans 8:18 - for now I consider that my current sufferings are not to be compared to the joy that will be revealed.” So don’t miss out on your future joy because of the pain of today. Try, try, try, try and try again. NEVER STOP TRYING. Be proud of how far you’ve come and speak life into the person that will go even farther, yourself. The mind can feel like an impossible war but don’t surrender because a couple battles were lost. Show up and fight everyday. Because as I always say #FirstHalvesDontMatter …… make it to the second and play ball. You are stronger than whatever you’re going through so please keep going. And take the over, it’s good for your soul 😂. You got this. With Love, Overs
