About the "public good"
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.
It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion.
In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding.
In the post below, we share more details about our new fund.

Today is a big day for me. Together with a great alternative data provider team, we are launching Qalpha AI!
Qalpha AI is an alternative data platform with a focus on the Cloud, AI, and SaaS sectors. It extracts alternative data, including hiring data, adoption data from over 20k companies, infrastructure signals for more than 1700 products like new subdomains, DNS records, certificate transparency logs, and data center buildout data. We track all the big tech names $MSFT, $GOOGL, $AMZN, $META on top of hundreds of mid-sized and smaller companies in this sector. You can also track things like Claude, Codex, ChatGPT, Copilot, AWS Bedrock, and much more.
For me, the key was also to make the product affordable, since it provides insights that were previously charged 10x more on other legacy platforms and were lower quality or didn't even exist.
The platform already offers a ton of alternative data as it is, but over the coming weeks we will keep adding new data sources and expanding the platform since we have the tools and the know-how to fully take advantage of this time and provide investment professionals and corporates a service which was already due for some time now.
For the first 7 days of launch, we are offering a special discount on pricing + a 3-day free trial.
I truly invite you to use it, as it really gives valuable insights: qalpha.ai/
For those who have found my posts useful over the years, I would really appreciate it if you could help spread the word. Thank you 🙏
Can't wait to check it out!

Yes please. But we should probably start off with an AI mayor before president.
Neuroscientist @davideagleman thinks an AI president is inevitable, and that it could happen within a decade.
We talked about why AI could make better moral decisions than humans, how it could give us real democracy, and why we might end up as “the squirrels” to superintelligence.

I love this thought experiment, where it fails is the practical reality of having a minority non control stake and managers who are more often than not poorly incentivized. There have been many stocks over the years I would have gladly bought if I knew for certain management would pay all profits out in dividends rather than reinvest in asinine glory projects or risky attempts to get into anonther business.

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

This was great fun!
I put four longevity titans in one room for an hour, and they gave me four very different answers on when we’ll beat aging.
They challenged each other on timelines, the FDA, AI, and the hype problem in longevity science.
Watch @aubreydegrey, @biogerontology, @geochurch, and @M_S_Ringel battle it out, live now on The Beyond Tomorrow Podcast!

Four longevity legends just revealed when they think we’ll beat aging.
More precisely, when will science repair the damage of aging faster than our bodies create it?
Their answers couldn’t be more different:
1) Aubrey de Grey: a 50/50 chance within 12–15 years
He coined the term “longevity escape velocity,” so he went first.
His estimate is based on how fast each area of damage repair is moving, and how far we need to get to delay age-related decline by the first 20 years.

I won't pretend I know what's gonna happen to the stock market in the short run. but what you need to understand is that professional finance fundamentally does not believe we are entering the singularity, and professional tech does.
