I’m grateful to all those working to support the community during this difficult time.
It is with profound sadness that we confirm that a fire incident at CFB Wainwright on October 17 resulted in fatalities and injuries. Our immediate priority is supporting those affected and notifying next of kin.

- three vehicles were observed traveling moments apart on Pine Valley Dr traveling northbound, minutes after the victim was seen on video walking northbound
- investigators are hoping to speak to the drivers of the vehicles in order to obtain any information

- No suspect vehicle description at this time
- Female believed to have been struck on Sunday, October 4, between 8 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.
- Investigators will be in the area canvassing for witnesses and video

On this day in 1984, Constable William Grant was killed in the line of duty at just 26 years old.
While much of the region slept, Officer Grant tried to stop a vehicle driving dangerously on a fog-covered road.
Bill, as he was known by friends and family, was survived by his wife Susan, his daughter Lara and his son William James, who was born two weeks after his death.
A member of every YRP recruiting class exemplifying outstanding leadership qualities and athleticism is recognized with an award in the name of Constable Grant.
