Green Party MP Hannah Spencer claims nationalising energy will lower your bills. But moving costs from your energy bill to your tax bill isn't a saving, it’s a trap. Getting rid of shareholders doesn't get rid of the cost of producing energy. It just dumps the financial risk straight onto the British taxpayer. The truth? Our energy market isn't failing because it's a free market. It's failing because it’s already heavily state-managed and rigged against real competition. We need more power for consumers, not more power for politicians.

Ross Greer’s logic: if something needs energy, ban it instead of building more power. The Greens want to pause hyperscale data centres because they take massive electricity. But data centres run modern healthcare, banking, and public services. Freezing construction doesn't stop our need for digital infrastructure, it just exports jobs, kills investment, and leaves Scotland dangerously dependent on foreign tech grids. Instead of politicians acting like central planners and shutting down growth, let tech developers pay for their own power connections, carry their own risks, and build the energy supply Scotland needs.

If you're ambitious, government isn't the place for you. It rewards mediocrity and caps what brilliance is worth. The private sector isn't a guaranteed win, but there's competition for your skills, and room to own what you build instead of just accepting a pay scale as your ceiling.

Adult stars are now pumping out climate PR. But 8 in 10 Britons already care about the planet. The real issue is government backing feel-good policies over real solutions. If Lily Phillips and co want to help they'd do nuclear regulation. Grid constraints. Litter and sewage. Now that's sexy.

You don't cure scarcity by giving the state more control over scarce things. Grace is right: of course wars, energy costs and bad harvests can spark inflation. But a one-off shock turns into lasting inflation because governments keep overspending and central banks print money to cover it.

We're addicted to the state We complain about taxes while guarding our own exemptions, and rage against bureaucracy while demanding the state insure us against life itself. The real crisis isn't government's power. It's how much of it we've demanded.

You can no longer get rich from wages alone. Your parents could earn an average salary, save up, and buy a house. Today, average house prices are nearly 8x your salary, making hard work alone no longer enough to get onto the property ladder. The dream wasn't that everyone ends up equal. It was that work could turn into capital. That freedom is getting harder to realise.

Inequality has never been the problem. The problem is a world that rewards wealth built on subsidies, contracts and political favour. Strip that out, and it's still capitalism that allows everyone a shot at getting richer.

No Zack, taxing one bogeyman to subsidise another isn't fixing the system. It's the government creating a privilege, skimming it, then deciding who gets the leftovers.
