1/6 At #WAPOR2026, our plenary roundtable on Polling Under Pressure examined how legal restrictions and political pressure affect the freedom to conduct and publish public opinion research. A shared concern across borders, with consequences for democracy.
5/6 Robert Chung (@Robert_TY_CHUNG), of @hk_pori, recalled @WAPOR’s support for colleagues under pressure worldwide. He called for professional standards and warned that excessive regulation can serve political purposes.
6/6 Protecting independent polling means defending the conditions that allow researchers to ask questions, gather evidence and publish findings. Professional standards and international solidarity are central to that responsibility. #WAPOR2026 #PublicOpinion
