America needs people who know how to build things, fix things and make things work. Electricians. Technicians. Welders. Plumbers. Construction workers. Manufacturing experts. These careers matter. The people who do them matter. And America’s future depends on them.
America is currently facing a skilled trades crisis: an estimated 2.1 million positions could go unfilled by 2030. Meanwhile, many young adults are unaware of how to pursue these careers. The issue isn’t a lack of demand or opportunity. It’s making sure the next generation knows where those opportunities are and how to get started.
That’s why @Ford is proud to be a founding partner in a new @AdCouncil effort with Dycom, The @HomeDepot and the @WallaceFdn to help more young people understand the opportunities available in the trades.
There are incredible careers available for people who want to work with their hands, solve real problems and build things that matter. We need these skills to build the future of America. And we need to do a much better job showing young people what’s possible. That’s my hope for this new campaign… to make these careers easier to see and easier to pursue.
Derrick Feldman, Managing Director at Ad Council Research Institute, wrote more about the launch of this campaign today on From the Road: fromtheroad.ford.com/us/en/a…
