Should you cut a hole in the ground plane under the pads of a USB-C or HDMI connector? Some engineers swear by it, others say never.
I simulated it 327 times to settle it.
Answer: yes, when the pad is wider than the trace. And make the hole exactly the size of the pads. 馃У1/12

New 3rd party firmware for Rigol DHO800/900 scopes looks impressive.

Fresh out of the factory, releasing soon to the general public. New thermal camera review coming soon.
I forgot to mention this is a Thermal Master Thor 002. Screen is 640x480px 60Hz IPS, features SuperResolution IR 512脳384px voltlog.com/y/87spj
This thing is physically larger than any thermal camera I reviewed before. The increase in display size and resolution as well as sensor resolution is very noticeable over previous models.
I guess this is the world we live in now. Distributors like @digikey have already introduced a new filtering option "Tariffed Products"
Are your PCB orders in production before the Chinese New Year hits? And do you think they will ship before everything halts? 馃
In case you missed my latest video it was a MEGA MAILBAG! Check it out! youtu.be/qF8w0BjwkBk
Something is causing my coffee scale to drain the battery in a few days instead of the normal battery life which is months. Luckily I have the best tool for this kind of debug @joulescope JS220.
I have already identified D1 reverse polarity protection diode at the input causing trouble. After removing it sleep current dropped from 5mA to 1.9mA. Good but not good enough, there is still something else on here causing trouble.
And Bingo! As suggested in the comments the culprit was the MLCC on the LDO. Removing the LDO didn't show any improvement but when I removed the caps (2x 10uF) it immediately dropped to just 11-12uA. One of the MLCC caps shows an ESR of 1Ohm. @joulescope used for measurements.
