Approximately 23,000 Sikhs voted in the latest leg of the Khalistan Referendum yesterday (18.10.26), in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada).
The democratic campaign offers Sikhs a chance to cast a non-binding vote for-or-against Punjab becoming a free Sikh homeland separate from India.
SFJ general counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun encouraged Sikh youth around the world to “take arms training” and join the Sikh Homeland Security Defensive Force, saying its purpose is “lawful community protection and defensive preparedness.”
“Modi will face the Khalistan challenge from touchdown to takeoff in Canada and America,” Pannun said, referring to Modi's scheduled trip to North America in December.

Democratic Fact Check
Alberta Referendum: - Khalistan Referendum
“Two consecutive days. Two independence questions. One fundamental democratic principle: the right of people to peacefully advocate and vote on their political future. Yet two governments respond differently — Canada allows the ballot; Modi’s India answers with bullets.” - SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun
Today, October 19, Alberta is holding a provincially administered referendum concerning the province’s constitutional future.
On October 18, an estimated more than 23,000 votes were cast in the Khalistan Referendum in Edmonton, according to SFJ, with voting extended by the Punjab Referendum Commission to accommodate voters still waiting in line.
Prime Minister Mark Carney opposes Alberta’s separation from Canada. Yet Alberta’s independence question is being debated publicly and placed before voters through Canada’s democratic institutions.
For Sikhs advocating Punjab’s independence, SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun stated that India’s response to the Khalistan Referendum has been “transnational assassinations and ongoing kill plots.”

Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), a Canadian pro-Khalistan group, observed a moment of silence at the Alberta Legislature grounds to honour and show solidarity with members of the Canadian Armed Forces who lost their lives in the tragic fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright.
The moment of silence was observed before the commencement of voting in the Khalistan Referendum.

On behalf of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) and the global Sikh community participating in today’s Khalistan Referendum in Edmonton, I express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright.
Our prayers are with the injured, their families, and every member of the Canadian Armed Forces affected by this tragedy.
We salute the courage and dedication of Canada’s firefighters, paramedics, medical professionals and emergency responders working tirelessly to save lives.
Today, as Sikhs gather in Alberta to exercise their democratic right to self-determination, we remember that the freedom and democratic rights we cherish in Canada are protected by those who serve this country.
We cannot bring back those who have been lost. But we can honour their lives, stand beside their families, and ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.
May Waheguru grant peace to the departed souls, strength to the grieving families, and healing to the injured.
In grief, there are no strangers. Today, we are one Canadian family.

A catastrophic blast at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta has reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries during a live fire military training operation.
According to local sources on base, Canadian Forces personnel had been conducting exercises over several days when an artillery projectile reportedly struck an active natural gas well on the bombing range, triggering a massive detonation.
The blast is said to have levelled nearby tactical training buildings, with subsequent fires reaching munitions storage and setting off secondary detonations across the range.
The geography and infrastructure;
➟ CFB Wainwright has a documented history of natural gas production, with approximately 180 wells reported on the military property in 2014.
➟ Military range maps identify munitions storage, pipelines and designated live fire danger areas near Peterson Pond.
➟ NASA FIRMS satellite imagery recorded multiple thermal hotspots between Peterson Pond and Jamieson Lake on October 17.
Local accounts also describe hospitals activating Code Orange protocols, mobilizing stretchers and preparing for a significant influx of casualties.
The reported gas well strike, secondary detonations and hospital emergency measures remain unconfirmed as authorities investigate the incident.
Should these reports be confirmed, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and affected.

PANNUN COMMENDS PLAMONDON QUEBEC SEPARATISTS LEADER ON ELECTORAL VICTORY —
INVITES Parti Québécois TO OBSERVE OCTOBER 18 KHALISTAN REFERENDUM:
ALBERTA LEGISLATURE GROUNDS TO HOST KHALISTAN REFERENDUM VOTING IN EDMONTON
Following the electoral victory of Quebec’s pro-independence Parti Québécois, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has invited Quebec separatist leader and Premier-designate Paul St-Pierre Plamondon and representatives of the Parti Québécois to attend the October 18 Khalistan Referendum at the Alberta Legislature Grounds in Edmonton as observers.
Congratulating St-Pierre Plamondon on his electoral victory, Pannun commended the Parti Québécois for continuing to champion the democratic principle that the people of Quebec should have the right to determine their own political future.
Referring to St-Pierre Plamondon’s victory speech declaration, “This dream of being a nation will one day be realized,” Pannun said the message resonates with the political aspirations of Sikhs seeking an independence or Punjab from Indian occupation.
“In Canada, Quebec’s independence movement can contest elections, form a government and advocate an independence referendum. In Alberta, the question of separation is part of an open democratic process. Yet in India, the Modi regime treats peaceful advocacy for a Khalistan Referendum as ‘terrorism,’" Pannun stated.
OCTOBER 18 — KHALISTAN REFERENDUM, EDMONTON
The next phase of the global Khalistan Referendum*will take place on October 18, 2026, at the Alberta Legislature Grounds in Edmonton, where participating Sikhs will vote on the question:
