The new initiative “Fresh Finds Forward” provides support to artists… but only those who are on Spotify’s editorial Fresh Finds playlists.

Consolidation ruins culture. Nearly all the workers at BrooklynVegan, Alt Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been laid off thanks to parent company Veeps, owned by (you guessed it!) Live Nation.
AI “music” is simply theft. Artists deserve real protections against the AI companies who are harming real, human musicians! Suno scraped decades worth of music — did those artists consent to that? We doubt it.
Today UMAW officially launches our Raise the Bar campaign, our effort to establish baseline standards for artist treatment. We call on all venues to commit to these four standards:
1. No Merch Cuts
2. No Pay to Play
3. No Door Polling
4. Contract Transparency

Tidal announced today that they will be demonetizing fully AI-generated tracks on their platform. Listeners will also be able to filter out all fully AI-generated content.
