Behind that staggering figure are people whose lives have changed. A brain injury can affect far more than someone’s physical health. It can impact relationships, independence, work, confidence, mental wellbeing and everyday life; often in ways that aren’t immediately visible. Those effects can be felt by families and loved ones too. The £91.5bn figure shows just how significant the human impact of ABI is, and why access to the right support and rehabilitation matters. Rehabilitation can help people rebuild their lives after a severe traumatic brain injury. It can support recovery, increase independence and reduce the need for long-term care by helping people achieve more than may initially seem possible. Rehabilitation matters. Everyone should have the right to it. #RehabAwarenessWeek #RightToRehab #AcquiredBrainInjury #Rehabilitation #ukabif

The cost of Acquired Brain Injury goes far beyond the numbers. The economic cost of Acquired Brain Injury to the UK is estimated at £43.0 billion every year. Behind that figure are people whose lives have changed, families facing new challenges and individuals who may need access to rehabilitation to rebuild skills, confidence and independence. During Rehab Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the importance of the right to rehab, because timely, appropriate rehabilitation can make a real difference to people living with Acquired Brain Injury.
