The selloff was driven by widening AI credit default spreads, decelerating private AI revenue growth, and indiscriminate liquidation across software and cybersecurity ($PANW −7.63%, $CRWD −7.02%). As $VIX spiked +21.45% to 19.99, value ($IWD +1.50% weekly) outperformed momentum ($MTUM −7.61% weekly) by 911 basis points in a violent 5-session rotation. With Q3 earnings from Tesla, Meta, and NextEra landing Wednesday, focus capital on working defensive trends in staples, regulated utilities, and energy. Long $COST – The Value & Staples Leadership Anchor. Price is coiling directly beneath a dual-resistance gate where its 50-day EMA ($80.55) aligns with its 20-day high.
