Holidays are just around the corner. To help with your shopping, we’re rolling out Universal Cart in the US on Google Search and the Gemini app so you can:
🔹 Get notified the moment an item goes on sale or is restocked in your size
🔹 Apply available promo codes and discounts right at checkout so you don't have to hunt around for coupons
🔹 See which card in your wallet earns the most cash back or points for each purchase
Universal Cart helps take the guesswork out of finding the best deals so you can find your favorite items this season. Read more here: blog.google/products-and-pla…
One of the areas we’ve been pushing on in Search is making it easy for you to find relevant sites, first-hand perspectives, and content from sources you love. And we’re seeing that this work is resonating - the number of people who’ve used Preferred Sources to select sites they want to hear has grown by 7x since the beginning of the year.
Today we’re sharing some new and upcoming updates to AI Overviews and AI Mode to help you find links to click out and dive deeper:
➕ More inline links embedded directly in the response
➕ A new section at the top of a response that prominently highlights the 1-2 links you need to complete a specific task or find exact info
➕ News carousels available globally for timely topics — which also highlight your Preferred Sources (see image below)
➕ Dive Deeper section that features a more clickable design with image thumbnails
➕ Clickable publisher and creator names in video results to see more of their work
We’ve also continued to expand and evolve our commercial partnerships with news publishers, and now over 400 publications worldwide are part of our News AI pilot licensing program where we pay for the delivery and use of enhanced content to develop new AI features.
We’re committed to iterating and improving as we learn and hear feedback, so give these new features in Search a try and let me know what you think!

Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out today in Search to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers globally! I’ve been loving using it – and I hope you will too. Excited that we’re simultaneously shipping to subscribers across Search, Gemini app, AI Studio, Antigravity, and more. Just hit the ➕ in the Search box to give it a spin.
One of my favorite queries is “where should we go to dinner?” Maps always seems to get it right, matching personal preferences with live business insights and input from our 500M contributors. In particular, it’s great for finding something new.
Super excited that our first Google Maps fan-favorite dining list is here, based on reviews, ratings, and directions across 10 global cities. I’m looking forward to trying out the Hawaiian Drive Inn in SF! 🍛

Excited for Gemini 4 Argon. We’ve been loving using this internally. Can't wait to bring Gemini 4 to our products!
Lots of discussion out there about our next model(!), so I wanted to give an early look as soon as possible. Introducing Gemini 4 Argon!
It shows frontier performance in complex workflows, cyber defense and software engineering. Teams are using it extensively at Google, from coding to quantum computing, great feedback.
Here’s a look at the benchmarks:
Great meeting with Digital Minister @oscarlopeztwit to discuss Google’s ongoing commitment to Spain and its digital future #IA360. From accelerating AI adoption and bringing the best product experiences to Spanish users to expanding digital skills, our cooperation is focused on creating economic impact. Google Search helps Spanish businesses and users thrive, but that potential can only be unlocked when everyone has access to the very best tools. I look forward to our continued partnership to build a digital environment where innovation can truly flourish.
Great design is at the heart of great products. I’m incredibly proud to see that Fast Company has named Google as the 2026 Design Company of the Year, recognizing the work to transform our products with AI 👏
Bringing AI into products used by billions requires exceptional craft and a relentless focus on the user experience. From the reinvention of Search with AI Mode, to 3D Immersive Navigation in Google Maps, to our new visual design of the Gemini app, our teams are building AI experiences that are intuitive, human, and genuinely helpful in daily life.
Huge congratulations to our UX, research, and design teams who keep designing more helpful experiences every day!

Like many of you, I’ve been waiting over six months for Week 1 of the @NFL season. Excited to be kicking off this week with a major set of football updates in Search:
🏈 The new Live Game Feed gives you play-by-play updates, top social posts, video highlights, and more.
🏈 New carousel that lets you check the scores on multiple games at once.
🏈 More player stats like yards after catch, sacks, and turnovers.
🏈 Link your @YahooFantasy or @SleeperHQ accounts so that AI Mode can make recommendations based on your actual roster and league’s scoring rules. Great for start/sit recs, waiver wire targets, and evaluating trades.

We’re always working to improve Google Translate and make it even easier to communicate across language barriers. Two neat examples:
✅Live translations now can run *in the background* so you can multitask on your phone or lock your screen and still get live translations. Useful for times like when you’re on the train waiting for your next stop to be announced (available on Android, iOS support coming soon)
✅Live translation is now available through your phone’s earpiece on iOS (already on Android). Great when you don’t have headphones handy like at a noisy airport.
Try these out today in the Google Translate app! Download the app on Android or iOS here: translate.google.com/about/
Weather is one of the top searches on Google daily, and we’ve been investing in cutting-edge AI models to improve weather forecasting. Today, we’re launching our most advanced, accurate model - WeatherNext 3 - and shipping it directly into Google Search & Maps!
It brings dramatically improved longer-term forecasts. For example, it’s up to 50% more accurate for precipitation forecasts, with the greatest improvements in regions where forecasts have historically been less reliable. 🌧️ Super helpful when you’re trying to plan your weekend or what to pack for a trip!
I’ve worked with Liz for 20+ years and know her as a brilliant builder and empathetic leader. Her work reimagining Search with AI is a master class in both, and one of the most monumental reinventions of technology in our lifetime. Congrats Liz, Marian, and Lila! 👏 #TIME100AI

For all of us, news is very personal. Each person has a different set of publications or sources that they trust -- and want to hear from -- the most. With Preferred Sources, you can set yours and see them more often in your results.
Since we launched Preferred Sources, we’ve seen lots of pubs and sites add our button to their site to help their audiences connect with them on Google. So we’re upgrading that experience & making it more seamless – if you’re a site interested in implementing our new interactive button on your site, check out how in Google Search Central: developers.google.com/search…

Want to make Google feel a bit more customized? We’re rolling out new features to help personalize your experience across Search, News and Discover.
My personal favorite: On Discover, you’ll soon be able to tune your feed using simple prompts like “show me kitchen reno ideas, but keep them eco-friendly.” Tap the three dot menu on Discover content to tell Google the topics you want to see more or less of, in your own words.
As a parent and a product builder, one of the areas that I think is most important to get right is how we create AI products to help students learn. There's an enormous opportunity for more personalized education, to help people understand topics in ways that resonate most with them, and to meet any learner where they're at. It’s essential that we build our products in a way that steers students toward true subject matter understanding and skill development rather than cheating or shortcuts.
To help students as they head back to school, we’re rolling out several AI-powered tools in Search:
🔹Interactive visuals to make concepts click
🔹Custom practice quizzes to prep for exams
🔹Notebooks to keep organized
🔹Step-by-step learning with Lens
🔹Custom study files based on uploaded handwritten notes or course materials
I'm especially proud of how our teams are building these features grounded in learning science and how people actually learn by partnering with leading experts, educators, institutions, and providers of trusted content. And starting today, we’re introducing new offers on our Google AI plans so that college students can sign up at one.google.com/ai-student and unlock even more, free of charge.
