🔬A new clue to why cancer immunotherapy works for some patients, but not others A new Technion-led study suggests that the key may lie in what happens during the first weeks of treatment. Led by Prof. @dvir_a , together with first author Dr. Zhongyang Lin and international collaborators, the study analyzed nearly 200 patients across multiple cancer types. The researchers found that it was not simply the tumor’s immune environment before treatment that mattered, but how that environment changed once immunotherapy began. Shifts toward immune-rich states were associated with strong responses, while shifts toward suppressive states were linked to treatment failure. The findings published in @Cancer_Cell could pave the way toward identifying treatment response earlier, and ultimately helping make immunotherapy more effective.
