A multi-day vandalism spree throughout Seminole Heights has come to an end for these Slingshot Bandits.
At around 8:30 p.m. on November 3, 2026, Tampa Police responded to N Nebraska Ave following a report of a vehicle's rear window being smashed. Through investigative efforts, detectives identified a vehicle of interest linked to Horner. He was taken into custody at his home, where officers recovered a slingshot and stones matching evidence collected at previous scenes. The other half of this window-smashing duo was Rios-Mulero, who is believed to have sat in the front passenger seat and used the slingshot to launch rocks.
Believed to be connected to other similar incidents, these bandits got a stone-cold reality check when our detectives put an end to their smashing spree.

A not-so-wise man wore a shirt that said, "Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose." With a BrAC more than three times the legal limit, he lost and won a trip to jail and a DUI charge.
This Halloween, don't let impaired driving haunt you. Drive sober or get pulled over.
Last night, members of our DUI Unit spoke to the The University of Tampa Student Government General Assembly about the dangers of impaired driving ahead of Halloween weekend.
As you head out to celebrate, make safety part of your plans! Choose a sober designated driver or use a rideshare service to get home safely. Remember, drive sober or get pulled over.
Let’s keep Halloween weekend safe! We’ll have enhanced patrols citywide Oct. 30–Nov. 1.
Celebrate responsibly and report suspicious activity.
- Emergency: 911
- Non-emergency: 813-231-6130
Halloween safety starts with smart costume choices. Realistic prop guns can be mistaken for real firearms. Choose clearly identifiable accessories and leave realistic replicas at home. Help us keep Halloween safe for everyone!
We're taking extra steps to keep families safe by verifying the information of registered sex offenders and predators across the city. This work helps protect our community not just on Halloween, but every night of the year.
Before you head out for trick-or-treating, plan your route, stick to well-lit areas, and visit the FDLE website to check the sex offender and predator map: offender.fdle.state.fl.us/of…
Today, we celebrate those who show up for our community, often on some of the hardest days of people’s lives. We’re proud of our men and women who serve with heart, look out for neighbors, and answer the call when it matters most. Thank you for all you do, today and every day.
