The first labubu:
In 1998, a toy named $FURBY became the fastest-selling toy in America and then got banned by the NSA.

The first labubu:
In 1998, a toy named $FURBY that babbled in its own nonsense language became the fastest-selling toy in America. One year later, the NSA banned it from Fort Meade, filed it alongside recording equipment, fearing it would repeat classified conversations back to the enemy. Its maker had to issue a public statement: Furby is not a spy, and has absolutely no ability to record anything whatsoever. At one point a woman found a beeping package on her porch, called the bomb squad, and they opened it to find a Furby inside. The first consumer device the NSA ever banned could not record a single word.

A drunk man's post on Bitcoin Talk created crypto's most culturally significant slogans - $HODLING
On December 18, 2013, in the middle of a brutal crash, a drunk guy logged onto Bitcointalk and typed his thread title wrong twice on purpose. He admitted he was a terrible trader, explained why that was exactly the reason he wasn't selling, signed off with "sue me (but only if it's payable in BTC)," and went to bed. Eleven minutes later, a stranger replied with one word. That word became the only religion crypto has ever had. And to this day, nobody knows who the man was. $HODLING.

Eleven minutes after the post, a user named elux replied with one word:
"HODL!"
The word left the thread within hours. Every crash since has been met with it. Institutions say it now. It survived three bear markets, a thousand obituaries, and every trader who ever called the bottom wrong.
The thread where it was born now has over 2,600 replies. It's still there.
GameKyuubi never came back to claim any of it.
No interviews. No book deal. No dox. The man who named the religion of crypto vanished like he knew the assignment — Satoshi disappeared before Bitcoin mattered, GameKyuubi disappeared after HODL did.
The word is immortal and the man is a ghost. In this market, that's the purest form of credibility there is.

On January 17, 2009, fourteen days after the Genesis Block and one week after Hal Finney typed "Running bitcoin," Satoshi Nakamoto announced Bitcoin v0.1 with the first piece of financial advice the industry ever got. Someone asked why it would ever have value. His answer, verbatim: "It might make sense just to get some in case it catches on. If enough people think the same way, that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy." Fifteen words, written before Bitcointalk even existed, now quoted in textbooks and reposted every year as the original get off zero. It was never advice. It was a prophecy with instructions. He told us why, and we just listened late. $INCASE. Lore coin, Satoshi's words not ours.

Way before PEPE and WOJAK, in 2007, 4chan built the first cat cult ever created by an anonymous internet community. A literal religion of cats.
Ceiling Cat was the god. Basement Cat was the devil. Raptor Jesus was the prophet. The scripture was real: the LOLCat Bible, written verse by verse in 2007, covered by the LA Times and still hosted by Columbia University. And they wrote down the end of the world too. Catnarok, the final battle between Longcat and Tacgnol, his color inverted twin born on /b/ in February 2007 with the words "the prophecy will be complete."
The prophecy is specific. It happens on Caturday, after Ceiling Cat warns Anonymous, and the result is delicious cake and joy. Every Saturday is Caturday, which means the end of the world is a weekly holiday. $CATNAROK. Parody lore coin, no affiliation, all receipts public. KnowYourMeme, Villains Fanon, the LOLCat Bible. Caturday is coming.

Why does this matter for crypto?
Catnarok was the first proof that anonymous communities could build complete lore — gods, canon, prophecy - with no leaders and no canon enforcement.
It's the ancestor of the Backrooms, SCP, and every memecoin community ever created.
And right now, cats are the hottest meta in the market.
The original cat god is back.
The god watches. The devil waits. The eternal battle is prophesied.
Every Saturday, the faithful gather.
