We’re back from our first time @saarchivists Annual Meeting in Chicago, where we were invited to participate on a panel with our @nmaahc and @gettymuseum colleagues to discuss our collaborative work on the Johnson Publishing Company photographic archive!

Native freshwater mussels are one shell of a friend. These "livers of the rivers" help to indicate healthy aquatic systems. @SIxDIGI recently announced an exciting collaboration to digitize over 45,000 specimens in their historic collection of freshwater mussels.
Check out a #MusselMonday feature on our collaboration with the Department of Invertebrate Zoology at @NMNH! The project will help researchers at the Smithsonian and beyond document the distribution and variation of freshwater mussels over time.

It was a joy yesterday to see our collaboration with @NMNH_Entomology represented at the NCP Collections Share Fair! Between June - October 2022, over 107,000 damselflies and dragonflies were #digitized.

We are happy to welcome Corey DiPietro to the Informatics Team! Corey worked for many years in the National Museum of American History and will now work in projects to create and enhance digital records of all the units of the @smithsonian.
Spring is coming early this year with #digitization @SIGardens of 650 hand colored glass lantern slides from @theGCAmerica by DPO Imaging Services/Smithsonian American Womans History Museum.

Mussel-mania is here! #MassDigitization has partnered with the @NMNH Department of Invertebrate Zoology to image a treasure trove of freshwater mussels! Specimens from the 25K lots of freshwater mussels will have 3 fabulous #shellfies taken for more than 120K images total.
