My son wrote a book. He's 18, and it's addressed to me. Well, to parents like me. Grayson's book, Dear Parent: Sport Isn't Easy. Here's How to Have Our Back, comes out October 27. It's a short, honest guide to the parent-athlete relationship, written entirely from the athlete's side: the passenger seat, the sideline, the drive home. Reading it as his dad was humbling. Many of us who lead teams put real care into how we give feedback. We think about timing, tone, and whether the person is ready to hear it. Then we pick our kids up after a tough game and start the debrief before they've buckled their seatbelt. Grayson's book is a reminder that the way we show up for our kids matters as much as what we say. A few ideas that stuck with me: → Make the drive home something they look forward to, after wins and losses alike. → Stand by them when a season doesn't go the way anyone hoped. → Remember that sport is a big part of their life, but not the whole of it. John Schneider, GM of the Seattle Seahawks, called it "the book I hand to every family raising a young athlete." As a dad, I'm just proud. If you're raising a young athlete, or know someone who is, you can get the link the day it releases. It's in the first comment 👇🏼
