Great trip to Homer! I was able to see firsthand the virtuous cycle of shipbuilding happening throughout our great state: more Coast Guard and NOAA vessels mean more shipbuilding and more good-paying jobs for Alaskans. Thank you to Eric Engebretsen, head of Bay Weld, and Representative Sarah Vance for showing me around. Stay tuned, there's a lot more exciting work ahead in Homer!
On October 18, 159 years ago, the territory of Alaska was formally transferred to the United States, and the Russian flag was lowered in Sitka. Since then, our state has proven itself to be vitally important to our country with our abundant resources, unrivaled strategic location and, most importantly, the people, including Alaska Natives who have called this land home for millennia. Happy Alaska Day!!
I always try to greet our Honor Flights when they come to DC to visit the memorials built in their honor or when they come back home to Alaska. As Julie and I were heading to Fairbanks this afternoon, we had a great opportunity to greet our heroes on their arrival back home. Take a look at this parade in Ted Stevens airport. Semper Fi!
Alaska is home to some of the best military service members on the planet. And we need to make sure they have the best equipment and resources to accomplish their missions. That’s why we’re undertaking the largest military buildup in Alaska’s history!
I’m going to keep fighting to bring more military assets to Alaska, to strengthen our national security, create good-paying jobs and provide opportunities for our contractors and small businesses. 💪
Thank you, @VP, for the kind words. But the real credit goes to the brave men and women in uniform who keep our country safe.
Great meeting with the hardworking employees at ConocoPhillips who help create good paying jobs and strong communities for their fellow Alaskans!
Alaskans have a right to produce our own energy and grow our economy. That’s why I put forward the Alaska’s Right to Produce Act 2.0 last week—legislation to protect the gains we’ve made in unlocking the ANWR Coastal Plain and NPR-A from a future lock-up, as was done under President Biden and Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer.
Unfortunately, my Democratic colleagues blocked the legislation, which should indicate what they have in mind for our state if they ever control the Senate again. I will always fight for Alaskans’ ability to realize our state’s full potential for the benefit of our hard-working families and communities.
On Saturday in Whittier, Alaskans gathered to commission the USS Ted Stevens—a state-of-the-art Navy warship fittingly named after our tenacious, late great Senator who served his country in so many different ways. Ted Stevens understood, perhaps better than anyone else, how important Alaska is to America’s security. Many of the major accomplishments we’re delivering today, including the largest military build-up in Alaska’s history, were made possible by the groundwork Senator Stevens laid over the course of decades.
To the men and women serving aboard the USS Ted Stevens: you are now the stewards of his legacy of courage, patriotism, and service. May that legacy live on in every mission you undertake.
Lead with courage. ⚓️🇺🇸
I had a great time meeting with the Ketchikan Wellness Coalition earlier this week and was able to congratulate them on receiving Rural Health Transformation Program funding!
The funding will expand their Malasakit Matters: Filipino Healthy Community Project, to build health knowledge across the Filipino communities of Ketchikan and Prince of Wales.
This is just one of six programs in Ketchikan to receive Rural Health Transformation funding. I’m looking forward to seeing everything they accomplish!
Big news for Wrangell! The U.S. Department of Commerce is awarding the City and Borough more than $43 million to support three projects: a deep water port and shipyard, a downtown waterfront expansion and marine infrastructure improvements, and a replacement for the Wrangell water flume.
Together, they'll help establish Wrangell as a modern marine industrial hub serving the Coast Guard and our military, NOAA, and commercial vessels, while attracting local and private investments.
It was great to be with everyone in Wrangell earlier this week for the big announcement. Excited to see work on these projects begin!
It’s been a team effort with Alaskans behind me all the way. The reason we’ve been so relentless on this is because Alaska LNG if by far the most important project for our future.
Alaska LNG is happening thanks to a $50 billion+ investment from South Korea that we announced today at the @WhiteHouse. This project will deliver low-cost energy for Alaskans for generations and create 10,000+ good-paying jobs. A historic day for our state!
💪
Replying to @TaylorRogers47
“@POTUS is set to unveil South Korea’s plan to invest some $200 billion in the US, including $54 billion for a long-stalled venture to export natural gas from Alaska that’s been championed by a Republican Senator @SenDanSullivan.”
Thank you to Trill Gates and @YourAlaskaLink for coming to DC during a big week that saw my Bycatch Reduction Act and Cold Weather Diesel Reliability Act pass out of their committees with bipartisan support!
Julie and I were honored to join the Alaskan Federation of Filipino Americans for their 23rd Annual Founders' celebration! This community represents so much of what matters to all of us: faith, hard work, love of family, patriotism, and military service.
The friendship between the United States and the Philippines remains very strong, but the strongest connection is right here in the families, businesses, and churches that call Alaska home. 🇺🇸🇵🇭
After working alongside Alaskans for years, we’re making progress on my Bycatch Reduction Act—the most comprehensive bycatch bill introduced in Congress. It passed out of the Commerce Committee but was blocked by Democrats when I brought it for a vote on the Senate floor. But we aren’t done. We’re going to pass this bill and reduce trawl bycatch!
For more than 30 years, Alaskans have been asking for a life-saving road connecting King Cove to Cold Bay—and we’re closer than ever.
On my last trip to King Cove, I was honored to be joined by the leaders working to get this project across the finish line, including Mayor Warren Wilson, Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Transportation Ryan Anderson, and Sean McMaster, Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration.
The great people of King Cove have waited way too long. Let’s get this done!
Exciting news for Alaska! The Coast Guard has awarded a $315 million contract for the design and construction of a cutter mooring and new fuel pier at Base Kodiak.
This is great news for our Coast Guard, Alaska’s economy, and the hard-working families of Kodiak. Looking forward to seeing these projects break ground as Kodiak prepares to welcome major Coast Guard assets—including 2 new icebreakers, 2 offshore patrol cutters, and hundreds of new Coasties and their families!

Alaska, it's here! FAT BEAR WEEK 2026! 🐻
The brown bears of @KatmaiNPS spent all summer feasting on salmon, and now it's time to crown the most winter-ready bear. Vote at fatbearweek.org.
