This afternoon, my Houston office received a suspicious piece of mail containing a white powder substance. The FBI, Houston Police and Fire Department, and U.S. Capitol Police responded swiftly.
I am grateful to law enforcement for their professionalism and to my dedicated team members, who work tirelessly on behalf of Texans.
This incident is deeply concerning. Attempts to intimidate your political opponents have no place in our country.
Mark, it’s disappointing to see you parroting the teachers unions’ misleading talking points about school choice. Let’s set the record straight.
First, my legislation creates scholarships funded by private donations, without taking a dime from public schools. Not one dollar is diverted from Arizona’s existing public-school funding. The claim that this program defunds Arizona schools is flatly false.
Second, these scholarships benefit children in public and private schools. Governors from Texas to Colorado to New York have opted in, including Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, because they realize this program will unleash billions of dollars to kids across their states.
If Arizona refuses to participate, Arizona taxpayers can still claim the federal tax credit by contributing to eligible scholarship organizations in other states. Arizona taxpayers will help educate kids in Texas, New York, and Colorado while Arizona kids are denied the same opportunity.
I’d encourage you to spend less time repeating teachers union talking points and more time reading what the law actually says.
We saw during COVID what happens when politicians put the demands of teachers unions ahead of the needs of children. Arizona kids deserve better.
Every kid deserves a good public education. From kindergarten to college, public schools changed my life. Every kid deserves that shot regardless of their zip code or their parents’ income. That’s why Republicans’ national school voucher program is a bad idea. It drains resources from schools and benefits the wealthy. I'm fighting to stop it so we can keep improving our public schools.
Because of Michael and Susan Dell’s generosity, millions of children will have an opportunity to begin building wealth and benefit from the success of the American economy.
Instead of hearing that capitalism is something to be ashamed of or the stock market is just for rich people, these kids will grow up owning investments in American businesses. They'll be able to look at their accounts and say, “I own a part of that company. And as it grows, my investment grows with it.” They'll see for themselves how capitalism creates wealth and opportunity.
That's a profound change for the future of this country.
Some have asked about this:
Susan and I wanted our gift to give 25 million children a stronger start and to reach communities where it could make the greatest difference.
We began with all eligible children born between 2016 and 2024 who signed up before auto-enrollment and lived in ZIP codes with median family income of $150,000 or less. We wanted families who took that first step to know they could count on our commitment.
Next were military children living overseas who also signed up before auto-enrollment. They represented a very small share of our $6.25 billion gift, but we didn’t want to leave them out because their military addresses didn’t fit the usual ZIP-code income framework. Their parents are serving our country abroad, and we want these children included in the future we are investing in.
When all American children were auto-enrolled at the beginning of this month, we immediately began funding the accounts of all children born 2016 to 2024 in eligible ZIP codes, beginning in ZIP codes with lowest median family income and moving progressively to higher median family income, up to 25 million accounts in total.
We chose this approach with care and a simple hope: that these investments will open doors and help millions of children build the futures they dream of.

Sen. Cruz Joins President Trump at White House to Announce Automatic Enrollment for Trump Accounts

Today's anniversary is a day for mourning but also for renewing resolve.
Over the last three years, Israel has demonstrated extraordinary courage, resolve, and skill in destroying the Hamas terrorists who committed the October 7th attack and in dismantling the Iranian-controlled terrorist armies that the Iranian regime had built across the Middle East.
These operations were a necessary, measured, and just response to the attack, in which Hamas murdered and kidnapped dozens of Americans alongside over 1,200 Israelis and other nationals, and have immeasurably enhanced Israeli and American national security.
As I said immediately after the attack, I am committed to doing everything in my power and using every resource at my disposal to ensure that America's policy is absolutely unequivocal: to ensure Israel has the military and diplomatic support to utterly eradicate Hamas, for as long as it takes.
Senator Ted Cruz retweeted
.@altcap: "What an extraordinary day for the country. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that this is the biggest transformation in the social construct and the social fabric of America for these kids since 1935, when Social Security was passed."
.@POTUS: "Today, I'm pleased to announce that every single eligible minor child in America has now been automatically enrolled in a Trump Account."
Senator Ted Cruz retweeted
.@MichaelDell: "We committed to children in America that we were going to contribute $6.25B — $250 to 25 million Trump Accounts for children in America. I'm very pleased to let you know today that we have funded ten million of those accounts, as of this morning. By the end of this week, we will have funded 25 million of those accounts."

Senator Ted Cruz retweeted
.@POTUS: "Since launching in July, nearly eight million accounts have been created in three months. With today's announcement, we're building on that success by 70 million accounts of children across America — and they'll all be enrolled into the @TrumpAccounts."

Today is an important day for Trump Accounts.
When I wrote this legislation, we had a simple goal: every child in America should have the opportunity to begin life with an investment account and a stake in the extraordinary economic engine that is the United States of America.
That is why I deliberately drafted the legislation to provide for auto-enrollment—so Treasury could open accounts for all 70 million American children under the age of 18.
For children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, the federal government will make a one-time $1,000 contribution to get them started.
But the bigger idea here goes far beyond that first $1,000.
For decades, we’ve talked about how to teach young Americans the value of saving, investing, and building wealth. Trump Accounts actually gives them the tools to do it.
When a young person turns 18 and looks at an account that has been growing alongside them their entire life, capitalism is no longer an abstract concept.
They’re an investor. They’re an owner. They have skin in the game.
And my hope is that, decades from now, we look back at Trump Accounts as the beginning of an entire generation of Americans who became investors and owners from childhood.
There is incredible momentum behind these accounts, and we are seeing more and more companies pledging to contribute to their employees’ accounts, which will only continue to help the next generation of Americans.

🚨 ICYMI: President Trump has officially signed Chairman @SenTedCruz's Modernizing Access to Our Public Oceans Act into law.
“Fishing is one of America’s greatest pastimes. A father teaching his children to cast a rod is a core memory that many Texans share. The MAPOceans Act will give fishermen reliable, up-to-date information and will make it possible to incorporate data into smartphone apps and mapping tools they already use. Instead of sorting through confusing or conflicting data, fishermen will be able to spend more time enjoying America’s waters with their families." - Chairman Cruz

The claim that our college sports bill takes away athletes’ ability to get paid what they are worth is simply wrong.
The old system, where everyone got paid but the athletes, wasn’t fair. As a conservative, I believe you ought to be able to reap the rewards of your labor.
If you can sell millions of tennis shoes, you ought to be able to make millions of dollars. Our bill protects that right.
As a conservative, I believe you should be able to reap the fruits of your labor.
If a college athlete is producing millions of dollars of value, that athlete should be able to make money.
The Protect College Sports Act protects genuine NIL by statute.
Coach Saban and President Gee are exactly right.
College sports is one of America’s great institutions. It has given generations of young men and women the chance to compete, earn an education, represent their communities, and be part of something bigger than themselves.
That tradition is worth protecting. I’m grateful to Coach Saban and President Gee for making the case so powerfully.
The Senate did its job. Now the House should act and send the Protect College Sports Act to President Trump’s desk.
Senator Ted Cruz retweeted
🚨 Two of the most influential voices in college athletics are calling on the House to pass the Protect College Sports Act.
Hall of Fame college football coach Nick Saban and longtime university president @gordongee:
"Congress rarely gets the opportunity to strengthen a vital American institution with bipartisan legislation. This is one of those moments.
"The Senate seized the opportunity. The House should do the same and send the Protect College Sports Act to President Trump’s desk without delay when it returns to session."

I’m not worried about the superstars. I’m worried about the 99% of college athletes who will never play in the NFL or NBA, but for whom sports is their ticket to college.
If Congress does nothing, we risk ending up with a mini-NFL of 30 to 50 rich programs while everyone else gets priced out.
The Protect College Sports Act is about preserving those opportunities.
Texas A&M has produced generations of Texan, American, and global leaders committed to the values of excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect, and selfless service.
